22 years with the same loving family served this rare 1st Series 1955 Chevy 3100 well! A complete, body-off-frame restoration and modernization was done less than 5,500 miles ago, and resulted in one of the nicest driving, looking, and performing pickups we have ever seen!
It has traveled the 950 miles from Olive Branch, MS to Florida FOUR TIMES without issue or incident, and spent the other 1,700-odd miles running around everywhere else!

This might be the best looking, driving, performing, and handling pickup I have ever come across, and I probably deal in more classic trucks than just about anyone else! Owned by the same family since 1994, the truck was completely disassembled and totally rebuilt from the bare frame up just 5,500 miles ago to be the ultimate daily driver and long-distance cruiser you see today.
The finish is visually stunning, and is a PPG blend of 2014 GM Rainforest Green that shows like it was just completed from every angle. There are maybe a handful of truly minor little blemishes like a stone chip, tiny scuff or something like that on the whole truck, and you REALLY have to search them out to even find them! The worst marks are a few hairline scuffs in the side edges of the running boards. It may buff out when you detail the truck, and they are basically the kind of marks other sellers won’t even mention.
This truck shows INCREDIBLY well, and I tried to take photos in both the sun, and the shade, so that you see just how clean, straight, mirror-like, and wet looking the paint on the truck is.
Gaps are exceptional, fit and finish is exceptional, and the truck is 100% SOLID STEEL from front to back!
There is NO rust, NO rot, NO bondo panels, NO patches, NO crushed up beer cans or chicken wire, and NO shortcuts in this body and build!
All of the weather stripping, rubber seals, and surrounds are in fantastic condition, and still show like new for the most part.
Chrome and bright work on the truck is all just a few years old and still shows perfectly, with no sign of flaking, pitting, peeling, or patina.
This includes new:
POLISHED GAS CAP
HOOD CAP AND EMBLEM
And everything else that is bright and shiny on the truck.
Fender welting shows like new, and the custom diamond plate step plate they installed to protect the running boards have normal use marks from use, but should polish up like new. They installed them over rubber rings so you can remove them if you prefer the stock running board look. Since they actually DROVE the truck all over creation, they wanted to step on something a bit more slip-resistant without worrying about scuffing the finish.
The wheels on the truck are custom ordered wide-lip GM Rallye wheels in silver with matching polished trim rings and GM “DISC BRAKE” center caps. They are wrapped in raised white letter BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires sized 255/70R15 in the back, and 235/70R14 up front. Tires are in exceptional condition, with just over 5,500 miles since installation, and no patches or prior repairs. They also installed a complete, brand new matching spare wheel and tire for the side-mount carrier which can be used on the front OR the back when needed.
There are NO tire rub issues when turning, going over bumps, or anything else.
The custom striping around the upper sill of the cab and doors, along with the Chevrolet logo on the tailgate, are all custom-cut vinyl, so you can easily remove them if they don’t trip your trigger!
All of the hardware throughout the truck still looks like new, because they spent thousands of dollars buying the highest grade and best quality finish hardware you could get! LOOK AT THE PICTURES! The hardware shows nicer than most week old builds!!!!
SuperBrite vintage style tail lamps, headlamps, turn signals, back up light, parking lights, license plate light, and hazard lights all work perfectly.
Bed wood is stunning, and each board was treated to multiple hand-rubbed coats of Weather Seal before installation so that it will look this good for a long time!
Stainless steel strapping shows like new, as does the hardware for it, and the bed sides, inner tail gate, and all corresponding hardware all look fantastic.
Glass on the truck is in excellent condition, and shows no cracks, chips, fogging, laminate issues, or anything else.
Windows go up and down with ease on new regulators with exceptional looking combs.
The truck has a killer nose-down stance that looks beautiful sitting still, and really does show nicer in person than in the 100 EXTRA-LARGE photos you will see in the ad. PLEASE come and see it. The first person who does will buy it.
Overall, the outside of this truck is about as nice as can be, and it is 100% ready to enter a car show and win another trophy RIGHT NOW.
Under the hood, the engine shows as nice as most Trailer Queens, even though this truck is a proven and reliable long-haul cruiser!
Firewall is painted to match the exterior and looks fantastic, while the motor is dressed with a ton of beautiful chrome, billet, and brightly-colored goodies that gleam in the sunlight!
The prior owner said he spent a day cleaning it from front to back after every trip, and gave it a full detail after anything each 950 mile run North or South it travelled.
GMPP supplied the black valve covers and air cleaners with red Chevy logo and lettering. Everything else is either chrome, polished, painted, or detailed to show extra nice at the car show with the hood open.
Polished aluminum headers connect to a custom fabricated aluminum exhaust system with Flowmaster box style mufflers and chrome exhaust tips. The fual system sounds AMAZING, and is not so loud that you can’t talk inside the cab.
Radiator is a Be-Cool EXTRAME unit. It has a giant electric FLEX-A-LITE fan on the back of it, and works with the high-flow performance water-pump to keep this truck RIDICULOUSLY cool at all times!
Without the A/C on, and cruising it for a 50 mile trip here in our 70 degree Florida “winter”, it did NOT go over 170. NOT ONCE. With the A/C on, on the same day and on the drive BACK from our trip, it didn’t go over 178. It can sit at idle with the air on and not go over 180! It is about the coolest running machine we have had.
While the cab was off the frame, it was walnut blasted, smoothed, and treated to POR15 and a light spray of chassis black.
The original frame rails were matched to GM IFS clip with power steering, front disc brakes, A-Arms, lowering coils, and performance shocks up front.
In back, a GM bolt rear with POSI-Traction stuffed with Richmond 3.23 gears was installed with leaf springs and performance shocks.
Transmission is a GM 350Turbo automatic with electric kickdown, and it was built by BTE for the truck with modified accumulators, recalibrated valve body and valve plates, heavy duty sprag, and a TCI Super Pump.
It shifts perfectly in all gears, and has absolutely zero issues or defects at this time.
This truck is one of THE best running and performing machines I have been in for a while. It starts with a turn of the key, idles cleanly, and the choke makes it warm and ready to go ASAP!
It has a perfect blend of power and performance, and the truck easily will spin the rear tires off at a red light, while maintaining a solid 70mph cruising speed at just under 2600 RPM.
It kicks down for passing or hill climbs with ease, and has plenty of oomph on demand for when you need it.
This truck really needs to be seen and driven to be appreciated. It is like driving a new pickup, in that it has NO pulling, wander, or handling issues of any kind. It goes down the road perfectly, and stops without any odd modulation, diving, or issues.
You can fly here and drive this truck home anywhere you can get to by road, and I won’t worry about you. IT IS AS PROVEN A TRUCK AS ANYTHING I HAVE EVER SEEN IN 18 YEARS OF DOING THIS. IT IS DIALED IN.
Wiring harness is all modern and redone from front to back.
Gas tank was replaced with a new unit and new fill neck with splash back protection.
The truck has the best in components, accessories, and parts installed on it, because the prior owner NEVER wanted to break down on a long trip to and from Mississippi.
Pop open the door, and you see a full custom interior that combines modern materials and upgrades with a classic style.
Medium tan leather covers the doors, kick panels, headliner, visors, and the 60/40 split bench seat, and it all shows like new!
Classic stitching gives it a clean look that will never be dated.
The 60/40 bench seat has power adjustability on the driver side, and there are functional lap belts in place for everyone.
No rips, tears, seam pulls, stains, or damage is evident, and everything shows wonderfully.
Door pulls and window rollers are NOS style, and look and work like new. Chrome window trim and vent window trim all look magnificent.
Carpeting is a custom cut automotive grade in matching medium tan, with fully banded edges. It has been installed over sound and heat proofing material, and has aluminum trim banding on the outboard edges to allow access to the floor of the truck and the battery which is located under the passenger foot well.
Carpet shows perfectly, and extends up the firewall and includes a column wrap. There is a full length custom banded floor mat that shows like new, as well as two heavy-duty protective vinyl mats we are including with the truck.
Vintage Air was sourced for a GENERATION II Slimline full A/C, heat, and defrost installation on the truck. 3 vents grace the under dash area, and the control panel is unobtrusive and easy to use. Air blows ice cold, and heat blows incredibly hot. Cooling system is R134A, and has no known issues.
The dash is stock appearing, and painted to match the exterior. The glove box opens to reveal the correct lined storage area, since the A/C components were carefully installed and didn’t steal the room.
A Pioneer AM/FM/CD head unit provides modern audio functionality and digital tuning and is mounted under the dash to keep from damaging the original truck. It sounds fantastic through the hidden speakers in the cab of the truck.
Gauges have been replaced with DAKOTA DIGITAL units in the stock locations, and they provide accurate readings for MPH/FUEL/VOLTS/OIL/WATER/RPM/ODOMETER/TRIP METER/and PRND selection.
The windshield wipers are now electric and have a separate control switch which works perfectly.
Factory switch for the lights works like it should, and under the dash on the right side is the master switch for the electronic fan and a functional 12V cigar lighter receptacle for phones, NAVI, and anything else that you want to plug in.
A late model GM tilt column was sourced and has functional tilt, turn signal stalk, and a beautiful leather wrapped GRANT chrome steering wheel.
The truck has a stock-style functional Emergency brake and release pull, along with a functional cowl vent with inside handle.
Overall, the interior is about as clean, straight, and nice as you could ever want, and is essentially flaw free.
I don’t know what else to really tell you. You’re not dumb, and I am sure that one look at the photos, and the understanding that this truck was owned by one family for 22 years that relied on it to cover a 950 mile multi-State trip FOUR TIMES will let you know more than I can type about it.
I honestly don’t believe that you could ever find a truck that combines the show-ready looks, proven reliability, long-haul track record, and overall cleanliness this truck has.
