Description:

1949 Cadillac Series 62

This is a 3 speed automatic transmission classic Sedanette. An 2001 restoration, it is much much better than a "driver," but not quite a concours level car. Mostly original, but with a few safety/convenience modifications which include a quartz clock mechanism behind the original clock face, 6v to 12v conversion, seat belts, alternator vs. generator (but looks original), and hidden dual brake master cylinders (separate front/rear braking so that you're covered if one goes out, a safety feature which became mandatory in the USA in 1968.) No hydroelectric power windows to ruin your paint. Some caddy geeks think the steering wheel is an extremely good reproduction, some think it is original. No rust. Original California car, prior owner kept it in Arizona in 2012 and 2013. Engine number (496273156) does not match VIN as Cadillac used to swap out engines to repair or rebuild them, but this is an original and correct engine that runs beautifully. I've owned it almost 8 years, loads of fun. Currently registered with California Year Of Manufacture plates (one is original, the other either restored or a reproduction). (Some of the pictures have a prior vanity plate, not currently on the car.) This particular vehicle was featured in the September 2019 issue of Motortrend in the "ultimate car of the year" issue and I am mentioned in the article: https://www.motortrend.com/news/ultimate-car-year-finalist-1949-cadillac-series-62-sedanette/ . Lots of little extras thrown in like a canvas car cover, service manual, chassis manual, Cadillac data book, extra sparks, motor oil, original build sheet, spare parts, etc. Odometer reads just over zero now. It works fine, but I don't know how many times it has rolled over to zero since the car was built. Mechanically, you can take this car on any freeway or on long drives without worry.
