When it comes to vintage automobiles, California and the west coast of the United States have always been the most desirable the world over for many reasons; the mild climate and the fact that many automotive trends started in California. The automobile is the perfect technological symbol of American culture, a tangible expression of our quest to level space, time, and class and a reflection of our relentless mobility, social and otherwise. You see automobiles advertised the world over described as California cars because at some point they were in California. We are liquidating a collection of 300 actual California cars. This is a collection that took 70 years to comprise. Most have the original paint and original California licence plates issued to them when they were new.
This 1979 Cadillac Seville 4-door sedan is an original California time capsule that has spent the last 29 years in storage and is part of a 300 car private collection that is beingliquidated. The car is finished in Cotillion white with gorgeous Dark Carmine red Sierra grain leather and looks as it did 40 years ago when it left the Detroit Michigan factory and shipped to sunny California where it has been preserved indoors from day one. The owner picked what he felt were the high water marks of all the cars he collected. The 1979 Seville was the final year for the classic first generation body style common sense would dictate when you think of the some of the colors that were offered the Yellow/tan two tones or the Baby blues this beautifulWhite / Red is clearly at the top of the list as the best combinationfor this American classic
Mechanically: The car is great shape, the Fuel Injected 350 runs great, and was just serviced, these cars have been stored in a climate controlled building that takes up a entire city block for 29 years the only driving in that time is it being moved around to reorganize. The transmission shifts good in all forward gearsas well as reverse, all the lights work front and rear as does all the power equipmen, the air most likely will need to be recharged. She is a near perfect time capsule
Exterior: This Cadillac is as close to new as you will find, the paint is near perfect, no paint work, no previousrepairs exactly the way it came from the factory 41 years ago even the factory hand painted pinstripe is like new this car can be best described as still in the wrapper. The only imperfections I can find was done last week when the car was washed for the first time in many years the plastic inserts between the bumper in the rear developed a small imperfection or hole when it was being washed, you can clearly see that in the picture otherwise it could be best describedas flawless
Interior: This car is all original and would describe as flawless like brand new, if it has any imperfections I would tell you but the leather, the carpet, the headliner, the dash, the door panels are as new. Please understand this car is original and not restored and is close to new as you will find in a 41 year old Time Capsule
NO RESERVE THE CAR IS ON THE MONEY AND WILL SELL TO THE FINAL BIDDER

The 1979 Seville: Was It A Game Changer?

By 1979, the Cadillac Seville was a familiar fixture on the nation's roads. They were parked in front of some of the world's finest homes, and seemed to be everywhere one looked in the more exclusive parts of town. The Seville had been warmly accepted and embraced by luxury car buyers and could now be declared another Cadillac success story.

What Cadillac described as "eminent authorities," journalists writing for the Saturday Evening Post and Fortune magazines declared the Seville one of the ten most beautifully designed production cars in the last 50 years. Another said it was one of the 25 best designed products in America. Those honors were eclipsed only by the fact that more Americans chose to own Seville than any luxury import model. The Seville had done everything Cadillac had asked of it.

Sales and production would drop slightly for 1979, not unusual for a car in its fourth year of a styling cycle, but overall sales remained strong, especially considering another gas crisis erupted in the spring of 1979 when Iran cut off its shipments of oil to the United States. And once again, the price of a gallon of gasoline began to increase, and lines started forming at the gas pumps. A growing concern among the public would take hold this time, and a permanent shift would occur away from the traditional, full-sized cars to smaller, more efficient ones that could go further on a tank of gasoline.

Was the Seville a game changer? No other American luxury production car introduced during the decade was more revolutionary. In size, the Seville opened the door for the smaller luxury cars that would be forthcoming. The high level of standard features, with a high base price to match, was proof that size alone was no longer a consideration for luxury car status with American buyers. It was a daring move for Cadillac to build a smaller car and price it above the premium Fleetwood Brougham model. But Cadillac was right on target and deserves credit for taking action before other car maker.

Overwhelmingly, most Cadillac enthusiasts prefer the first generation Seville over the one that followed. These were well designed, well built automobiles.Quality control was good, and the materials used have held up well over time.
