1973 Alfa Romeo Spider
Series 2 Alfa Spider with desirable performance and appearance of stainless steel bumpers. These car are considered as collectable with values appreciating. Runs and drives well. Engine is very strong with Euro cam (10548) installed on intake. Maintained and serviced by long time Alfisti (has owned Alfas since 1978). Need to drop from 3 Alfas to 2! SPICA fuel injection properly maintained with regular oil filter changes. Marvel Mystery Oil added to fuel with each fill up as recommended by Wes Ingram. Recent gas mileage, mostly highway, was 24-25 mpg. Body and paint are in good condition for a driver. Top new in 2005 and in very good condition. Interior generally in good condition with new dash cap. However seat upholstery needs to be redone and door panels are fair. BWA Sport Star Wheels in need of refinishing with some curb damage on left rear. Tires have tread but are dry rotting and will need to be replaced. General restoration was done in 2005 with 75K miles on odometer (not clear if this is original mileage) to yield a reliable driver, not a show car. Restoration included: - Rust repairs with all new metal in rocker and quarter panels, local rust repairs in floor pans and other areas. - All new suspension bushings front and rear including tie rods, lower and upper control arms, rear trailing arms, sway bar links, etc. Rear T bushings were in good condition and were not replaced. Adjustable upper camber arms. - Fuel tank cleaned and sealed with POR-15 US Standard tank sealer. - New clutch, clutch slave cylinder, clutch hose and brake master cylinder and brake hoses. - New front and rear transmission seals and drive shaft bushing - Front brake calipers rebuilt with new seals on hubs. New brake booster hose - New belts, alternator and SPICA belts - Installed electric cooling fan - New Robins convertible top with new windshield seal - New door seals and window channel felts - New engine mounts, transmission mount, guibo, drive shaft mount and bearing, inner and outer shift boots - New main exhaust system and hangers. Rear muffler in good shape. - New water pump - New KYB shocks Engine and misc work done at 95K miles - Head rebuild with new guides, minor porting of intake and polish of exhaust ports, resurfaced valve seats, fly cut head and installed with Rienz head gasket and square cut O-rings and dowel pins. Euro 10548 cam installed on intake. - New connecting rod bearings - Installed Hasting rings and honed cylinders - New front and rear oil seals - New fuel pump - New drive shaft U-joints @ 108K miles Currently 117K miles on odometer.
