1940 Willys

Our Detroit Showroom is proud to offer a very unique piece of American racing history. Barbara Hamilton is the first Woman in drag racing to receive an NHRA license for driving supercharged cars. Barb and best friend Nancy campaigned in this beautiful Willy's coupe from 1964 through 1971. By day, Barbara was a professional technical writer at TRW, and on her free time, Barbara was a drag racer and won the 1966 NHRA Springnationals and was runnerup at the 1968 Indy Nationals, all the while holding the NASCAR C Gas Supercharged ET record of 11.94 seconds! This Willys is painted in "Barbara Blue" which is a special hue that was drawn up specially for Barbara. This Willys is powered by a professionally built Supercharged 413CID V8. This powerhouse is equipped with a Hamton Blower, dual Edelbrock Carburetors and an upgraded ignition system for better spark. This powerplant is paired to a beefed up 3 Speed Automatic transmission which hands off power to the rear end and is translated to the pavement via the Mickey Thompson radials. The sticky rubbers are wrapped around chrome Colorado Custom wheels which look amazing and make the Barbara Blue paint pop. The interior has been toned down and has had the cage removed for a better street driving experience. The custom leather seats and tilt wheel allow you to enjoy this beast comfortably when open road cruising. The interior provides some great modern pieces such as an AM/FM CD Player and Power Windows. This iconic beauty is sure to take home some awards and turn heads down the road.
