This vehicle was purchased fully restored from Swedish Car Parts in November 2023. The restoration process included the following:
Exterior Restoration Details:
This silver beauty received a complete paint job; the undercarriage was completely undercoated and rust proofed. A color-matched stone chip guard was applied on both sides of rocker panels. All doors, the hood and trunk lid were aligned, and a new trunk lid seal was installed. Door hinges were lubricated and fitted with new limiter springs, and all electric locks and window regulators were disassembled, well lubricated, and serviced.
All exterior trim was replaced with restored, repainted, and reconditioned parts and then reinstalled using new mounting clips and 3M brand trim mounting tape.
The front and rear bumpers were refinished, front spoiler below the bumper was refinished, rear air foil apron was refinished, and the lower door kick and body molding were reconditioned.
New front windshield aluminum trim moulding seal was installed.
New right rear taillight with new circuit boards, sockets, bulbs for both sides.
Reconditioned circuit brake covers for both taillights.
New front headlights with upgraded high-performance bulbs.
New front turn signals.
New exterior door glass scraper seals installed on all four doors.
Installed new European-look clear fender turn signal lights.
Reconditioned and restored side view mirrors.
New complete front grille with cross bar and new emblem, including mounting pins and springs.
New front air louver covers installed over the fresh air intake openings just in front of the windshield.
New windshield wiper motor, new arms, new wiper blades.
Interior Restoration Details:
Front AND back seating makeover, including new seat foam and new black vinyl covers. Front seat structures rebuilt with updated frames, new seat heating elements, and new lumbar supports. Front seats have headrest inserts installed for added comfort.
This car is equipped with center power locks and power windows. All motors and window transmissions were disassembled, cleaned and lubricated. All the lock mechanisms were fully cleaned and lubricated. Every switch is fully functional.
New front door pockets and hardware, driver's and passenger's side.
New pillar covers (cover that hides the seat belt mechanism) driver’s and passenger’s side.
New interior third-brake light cover.
New rear seat belt covers.
New door panel mounting clips and other hardware as needed.
Original Volvo all-weather floor mats front and rear.
New rear window bookshelf.
Speedometer was upgraded with built-in original equipment tachometer in place of the large clock assembly. All bulbs and reminder lights were replaced. All instruments are fully functional including tachometer, speedometer, odometer, temperature and fuel level gauges. Speedometer is fitted with new temperature compensation board. All the service lights light up with ignition turned on and go off when the car is running.
Vehicle dashboard panel is upgraded with classic Volvo wooden dashboard trim found on limited edition late-production Volvo 240 models.
Dashboard top fully restored.
Mahogany wood and brushed aluminum vintage steering wheel by MOMO with corresponding Volvo horn button. (Original Volvo steering wheel included with vehicle sale)
Audio System:
Upgraded system with modern features, including a bluetooth-compatible phone interface for hands-free phone calls. Speakers are fitted with tweeters and hidden behind Volvo replica speaker covers to preserve authenticity. This car is fitted with a reverse backup camera that was carefully installed between the license plate lamps. It is not noticeable, and doesn't rob from the appearance.
New speaker covers and mounting bases.
Air Conditioning System:
Fully functional R134 upgrade air conditioning system with new receiver drier, newR134 AC compressor, new AC condenser, new AC condenser cooling fan, new compressor oil and new Freon, and new expansion valve. Fully functional and reliable, last services August 2024.
Brake System:
Front and rear rotors with zinc-plated triple cadmium coating.
New front and rear brake dust shields.
New front brake pads and mounting hardware.
New original Volvo front AND rear brake calipers.
New rear brake pads and hardware. (Spare set of performance pads included with vehicle sale).
New rear parking brake shoes and mounting hardware.
New brake master cylinder installed.
Brake fluid completely flushed and replaced with original Volvo fluid. (Extra Bosch brake fluid included with vehicle sale).
Upgraded IPD front steel-braided break lines.
Exhaust:
Stainless Steel exhaust system cat back.
Transmission:
5-speed manual transmission was installed on the vehicle. We installed a customized FLAT original Volvo flywheel. Transmission shifts smoothly through every gear. Absolutely perfect combination of power and comfort.
New clutch installed.
New synchros installed on 1st and 2nd gears.
New bearings.
Suspension:
New front and rear Bilstein B6 Performance struts.
Suspension bushings and ball joints replaced, repacked, and serviced as needed.
Wheels and tires:
Reconditioned original multi-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with reconditioned original center caps are fitted with touring tires. To preserve outer rim beauty, wheel weights with mounting tape were used for wheel balancing.
Engine:
This car has a 4 cylinder naturally aspirated engine.
Oil changed and new filter installed.
All engine seals replaced.
New valve cover gasket.
New PCV system installed.
All new belts including timing belt and new tensioners.
All new alternator and ac bracket mounting bushings installed.
New timing belt covers installed.
Valve cover was refinished in red color and VOLVO letters are polished to perfection.
Valve lash inspected and adjusted as needed.
New water pump and coolant hoses.
New air and fuel filters, new spark plugs, new ignition coil, new fuel pump and gaskets.
Final Words:
This vehicle starts, runs, and drives like a dream. It has plenty of power and is fast on acceleration. The car is 34 years old, and as such, it is not perfect. Please have realistic expectations.
The car underwent a thorough restoration with the goal of personal enjoyment and every-day drivability, not show-room perfection. The vehicle paint has a few small blemishes as illustrated in the pictures and has recently developed a small oil leak. The rear steel-braided brake hose will be included with the car and the buyer will be responsible for installation if so desired. The clock does not work. Please ask me any questions before bidding.
