1982 Vanagon L with Westfalia Camper package

1982 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

This is a solid restoration candidate of the very rare 1-year-only Westfalia with a diesel engine. Great starting

point!The exterior of this van is in good condition. The body has multiple patches of rust starting to bubble up andthere are some chips in the paint. The front grille has an impact shatter near the driver’s side headlight.

The interior is in very good condition. All the seats have been professionally restored with new foam and

upholstery. The original carpets have been replaced with Sewfine carpets, which are being protected from wear

and tear with Rubbertite mats. The interior sliding door panel appears to be from a later model Vanagon (gray

instead of brown like the rest of the interior); otherwise, the panels all look to be in excellent condition.

The camper equipment is in very good condition, except for the pop-top tent, which is torn, stained, and in need

of replacement. A brand new tent is included for new owner to install.

The skylight has leaked, causing a stain and to the top. The owner has replaced the

original Dometic fridge with a TruckFridge. The extra-large LP tank and electrical to the Propex heaterhave not been established. Electrical components included in sale. The sink system has been restored, and a Shurflo faucet upgrade kit was installed.

The original hook-up boxes have been upgraded to GoWesty’s hook-up box bundle. A new electric hook-up box is included in sale. The owner has added atoilet seat box with a Thetford toilet. All curtains were replaced with GoWesty’s complete curtain bundle.

In 2017, the diesel engine was replaced with a new old stock 1.6D diesel engine with less than 2000 miles since install. At the same time, the oil

pump, fuel injection pump, timing belt, and other surrounding items were replaced. The vehicle runs well. There is a minor oil seep that should be addressed.Minor electrical issues lead to intermittent operation of the speedometer and speakers, rightturn signal, ignition switch, and the horn, as well as a slow battery drain.
