1967 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic

1967 ARIZONA NO RUST BEETLE. First year for 12 volt, last year for hard dash. Mostly original, 93 K miles, Runs, drives, stops great. I am a private party in Tucson, AZ, not a dealer. Solid bug, sat for a few years. I've had it for about 3 years, driving a few miles weekly. It passes Arizona emissions. It ran pretty well when I got it. To get it reliable, I removed and flushed the gas tank; blew out and flushed all fuel lines; replaced the fuel pump (I have the one I took off); and rebuilt the carburetor. I put in plugs, points, condenser and wires. Fuel filter is underneath, not in engine compartment. Solex carb adjusted and timing set by VW pros at Chirco Performance down the street. Chirco also rebuilt the front end and installed new shocks and tires. They also replaced the floor panel under the battery that had corroded through (not rusted). Brake fluid reservoir has been relocated and is accessible near left front tire. Brake lines look relatively new. Battery is new, 2 speed wipers work. All lights, turn signals, flashers and brake lights work except for one high beam and one taillight that worked before. New throttle cable. I got the old horn working (barely) by cleaning a set of contact points inside. Needs a new horn ring, etc.The car has one year only back up lights, but they are currently not working. The wires appear to be present, I don't know if the switch works. I feel the back up lights could be easily fixed, I haven't tried though. Chirco installed a new headliner. I installed inexpensive door panels and carpet after I installed sound deadening material. Rear seat needs to be replaced. I reused original door pulls, assist straps, visors, hangers, ash trays. It has the original one year only lobster claw seat belts, and although not in perfect condition, they work fine. It doesn't burn oil, but it leaks a little. When I change the oil, 2 or 3 of the studs come off with the cap nut. These studs need to be separated from the cap nut and re seated so the cap nuts can be properly tightened to provide a good seal. I have 6 new studs, I just haven't made the simple repair. The door locks need to be freed up so they work easier with the key. The car is original Savanna Beige, but needs paint and body work. One front fender is European and probably original, and one is aftermarket (judging from how far the oval vents are from the edge). Not sure on the rear fenders. I believe the car to have it's original engine and trans-axle, and with 93 K miles it will need an engine rebuild or swap before too long. For now, it is an enthusiastic, peppy little runner, and tons of fun to drive around the neighborhood and run through the gears up to about 60 mph on the nearby road. Fun fact: as I understand it, they went from 1300 to 1500 engine in 1967, but kept the lower geared transaxle from the previous year for 1967 only. According to many, this makes the 1967 VW Beetle more peppy, or sporty than most old VW Beetles. It sure is a blast to drive. Radio is missing. Heater doesn't work, don't need it in Arizona. Projects for you: Paint and body, get taillight working, get back up lights working, get horn working well, replace rubber and felt around front windows, replace windshield ($100 approx.), fix minor oil leak (or don't park it in driveway),get rear seat reupholstered or replaced, fix heater (reconnect cable and replace engine vent hoses), fix windshield washer (powered by spare tire), front hood does not latch (hasn't been a problem for me), rear engine lid has what appears to be a bad hinge on the right. It hasn't been a problem, and I open the engine lid often. I will answer any questions or provide any additional photos you need. I've been transparent about the things I know are wrong with this car. It is 57 years old with high mileage. Car sold "as is". Fly into Tucson, get an airport hotel, and you can drive this car. It gives me great joy on Saturday mornings, now you can enjoy. I need to bleed brakes prior to auction end, that's why photos are taken in garage where the car lives. (I adjusted brakes and forgot to add fluid, so they need to be bled) New in box running boards included. jamestanderson69@gmail.com.
