1973 Volkswagen Beetle - Classic Kaefer Beetle Super Beetle

1973 Volkswagen Kaefer (Beetle) powered by the original 1303 cc air-cooled 4-cylinder rated at about 50 horsepower. In 1973 the “Super” Beetle was introduced to America along with the standard VW. but in Germany they only made the Kaefer which is the American “Super” Beetle. So, it has the McPherson strut suspension and everything else that goes along with the American version.

The VW has been in the same family since it was new and originally purchased in Germany. It was primarily driven around town for shopping, etc. and had several trips to Italy. Total mileage is just over 20,400 km which is approximately 12,500 miles.

After the original buyer died in the late 1980’s the Kaefer sat and almost rusted away until 2007 when it was rescued by a relative. Many hours of work went into repairing rust, replacing the floor pans, and rebuilding the engine and trans-axle. The car has been repainted the Monmouth blue metallic. But, due to age issues, you will see some imperfections. Please view the video and all photos carefully.

The interior was left intact and seat covers were added. The factory gauges function as well as the radio.

In 2014 the Kaefer came over to the USA and was only occasionally driven. Since that is the case, the family has decided to sell it and let someone else enjoy the “Beetle”.

The VW starts easily, shifts smoothly and is fun to drive.
