Description:

1963 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon

This auction is for a very original 1963 Volkswagen Double Cab Pickup.
I found this VW in a barn last year, he previous owner said it had sat in the barn for 30+ years.
We got it going replacing all the tires/wheels, ubber hoses, rake hoses, rake cylinders, nbsp;cleaning out the gas tank, tc.
I have driven it about 4000 miles over the last year since I put it back on the road, ncluding an approx 300 mile road trip earlier this summer.
The previous owner said he put a new VW 1600 dual port crate engine in it a few years before he parked it. The engine runs good, olds good oil pressure, nddoesn'toverheat. It does drop some oil around the valve covers and a couple other places, ut nothing major. Doesn'tknock or burn oil.
I did install a set of new dual Weber 34 ICTS, new alternator, nd a CB Performance Black Box.
I also added new Safari windows (front popout windows) with German Window Seals and a roof rack made specifically for the double cab.
It's got a little rust, ut for a 60s VW its pretty minor. The rust is basically only a few pieces in the cab area, he bed area of the pickup is very solid. The driver and passenger side dog legs have some rust on the outside, ut the inside of them are solid, believe they could both be skinned and be fine. Both the drivers side and passenger side floorboards have some rust in the middle, he rust areas were patched over years ago with some aluminum. The rust is only about 6" diameter sections in the middle of the drivers and passengers side. Would also be pretty easy to fix as the whole floorboards do not need replaced. The only other rusted pieces I have found are the rockers in the cab area both sides have had some patches put over them years ago. The rockers in the bed section look fine. Someone cut a small hole behind the drivers side in the bulkhead to the back seat, hould be a fairly easy repair.
This double cab would be perfect for a restoration since all the parts are there and the rust is minimal for a 60s VW bus. It can also be driven as is, nbsp;the steering wanders a little, t occasionally pops out of 4th when going over a bump, nd the brake shoes are starting to get a little thin. But for the most part it goes down the road fine.
I have a clean title for the pickup in my name.
