Description:

1971 Volkswagen Kombi Type 2 15 window Kombi

This 1971 Volkswagen Type 2 is a Brazilian-built example that features 15 windows including a split windshield, and is said to have received a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment under previous ownership before being acquired by the seller in 2020. Finished in orange and white over a beige interior, the bus is powered by a retrofitted 1.6-liter flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Work conducted under current ownership included replacing the battery, cleaning the carburetors, setting the timing and valve lash, changing the oil, bleeding the brakes, and lubricating the suspension. This Kombi is offered with a fire extinguisher, a warning triangle, spare parts, tools, three keys, and a clean Texas title .

The seller states that the 15-window body was refinished under previous ownership approximately five years ago in orange and white along with replacement green glass, trim, rubber, and seals. Details include a split windshield, pop-out side windows, white bumpers and guards, side-entry doors, and chrome mirrors and trim.

White-finished 14″ steel wheels wear Volkswagen-branded hubcaps and are wrapped in older Firestone bias-ply tires that show sidewall cracking. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features a bulkhead between the beige vinyl-upholstered front and rear seats. Shoulder restraints are fitted for front seat occupants, and a fire extinguisher and spare wheel are stored in the driver’s compartment.

A two-spoke steering wheel frames a 120-km/h speedometer with a five-digit odometer showing 58k kilometers (~36k miles) and a gas gauge. Total mileage is unknown.

Nine passengers are accommodated across three rows of seating along with two courtesy lights. Black all-weather mats are included in the sale.

A 1.6L dual-port flat-four was retrofitted under previous ownership and replaced the factory 1.5-liter unit. The carburetors were cleaned, the timing and valve lash were adjusted, the battery was replaced, and the oil was changed under current ownership.

A four-speed manual transaxle sends power to the rear wheels. Additional underside photos are provided in the gallery.

A warning triangle, spare parts, extra paint, tools, and three keys are included in the sale.
