(Another note on the pictures: The light was really dancing around on me the day I was taking the outdoor pictures and a light blue is really hard with a lot of light. I tried to take the pictures in various lighting conditions so that you could see how it looks during different times of day. While the body panels may appear a little different from panel to panel it is only because some had sun directly on them and others did not. The color matches perfectly all the way around the car. Come view it in person if you are local, it is the only way to truly appreciate the quality of the high-end paint and perfect body.

I have been restoring and collecting Porsche's, Corvettes and VW's for about 25 years and have also been involved in Judging cars at concour events in Southern CA.
These little Coupes are getting harder and harder to find, especially in "no hitâ€... zero rust condition. The Owner is a friend of mine and I am helping him sell it as he is extremely busy and has no time to deal with selling it himself. He is available if anyone wants to talk to him.
The owner before this current owner believed the car to have always been in the Southern CA area, but we have no "absolute" proof of this. The odometer is the original and works perfectly. The car has less than 2000 miles on it since it was totally restored. My study of the car would confirm that it has always been in this dry climate as there is zero rust anywhere. (Note: there was a hole in the battery area, that was completely replaced with sheet metal and welded to perfection and coated)
The body is in superb condition and absolutely straight and bondo free.
The exterior paint is the original color and was resprayed around eight years ago. It is a gorgeous two-stage base-clear in the original factory Diamond Blue Color. It is very flat and almost concour type of finish. It is ripple free on an extremely straight body that looks to have never even been dinged. The original owner was an Air Force Officer and kept the car in perfect condition.
I absolutely cannot stress how nice the body is on this car. Take a look at the close up pictures down the sides of the cars and look at the gaps between the doors, hood, trunk. Absolutely original and perfect. The car was painted by someone that knew what they were doing, as there is no overspray anywhere. This was clearly a windows out paint job and all trim and rubber was replaced at the time. This was not a cheapo restoration, this was high dollar.
The front and rear bumpers were replaced during the restoration and are in beautiful shape.
The Interior was totally redone with original style reproduction materials. The seats were completely re-cushioned and are very comfortable. The carpet was replaced and there is a new rubber mat in place for your feet. A new windshield was applied during the restoration. The steering wheel is the original and has a few cracks around the middle, but has a great patined look and would be the only thing that someone might want to do to make the interior perfect.
The engine was completely rebuilt and runs phenomenally for an original 1600 style engine. This little bugs moves with authority. It drives straight down the road thanks to a newly rebuilt front-end. The transmission works well and shifts through all the gears smooth and effortlessly. The brake system was completely gone through including the master cylinder and the car stops straight and true. Tires appear to have about 90+ percent tread remaining.
The car has plenty of power going up hills and drives straight down the road and brakes with authority. This is the nicest running early 70s VW I have ever driven. It feels as if it is brand new.
A lot of money was spent on this little gem and needless to say everything works on this vehicle. It has a wonder Sony AM/FM CD detachable face stereo installed that sound terrific. Newer style white California license plates seen in the video come with the car. The Black Plates are shown as to correct 1970 plates from CA that could be applied to the car under California Year of Make Program.
If you love the look of a freshly restored bug, with virtually everything mechanically having been attended to, this would be a great car for you. If you are inclined to show quality a few minor touches here and there and you would have a top show condition vehicle.
This is one fun little bug to drive and enjoy. It gets consistent 25 mpg and won't nickel and dime you to death, as everything has been done!!
