1968 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia --

To capitalize on the Beetle's popularity Volkswagen introduced the sporty Karmann Ghia at the 1953 Paris Auto Show. With a rear-mounted 4 cylinder and many of the Beetle's proven mechanicals the car was economical and durable. The real attraction was the style of the bodywork by the Italian outfit Ghia and the renowned coachwork of Karmann. The unique styling turns heads today. With easy to find parts and a massive community these vehicles are growing in popularity every day. GR Auto Gallery i...s pleased to present this nice 1968 Karmann Ghia for your consideration. Finished in a stunning shade that we believe is the factory Blood Orange this Ghia is a head turner. Aftermarket 15in red and black wheels add a slightly modern touch and spruce up the look. The distinct styling of the Ghia is due to the designers at Italian based Ghia wanting to design an inspirational halo car for VW. Hand shaped body panels that were welded instead of bolted resulted in a higher price. The body of this car is excellent and very straight. Overall the paint is good and even but there are some stone chips and marks on the front. It looks like the car has all new window seals. The tan interior is very nice with solid seats crack free dash and good headliner. Everything appears to be working as it should. The factory flat-4 cylinder is a solid motor and runs well. It starts without an issue and sounds healthy. It is mated to a 4-speed manual and while it's not the quickest car it has no issues driving in todays traffic. Karmann Ghias are a special vehicle. Combining the proven mechanicals of the Beetle with gorgeous hand formed bodywork means that these have a faithful following.
