1974 Volkswagen Bus/Vanagon westfalia

This 1974 Volkswagen Westfalia camper is rebuilt, equipped, and ready to go for a later summer adventure. All you need to do is bring your clothes and head off in it for a driving adventure on your way home. This Westfalia is in terrific mechanical shape with all essential systems rebuilt in the last couple of years and was last on a long trip through Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas in May. It’s been lovingly cared for with upgraded Audi leather front seats for driving comfort with adjustable lumbar support and a good looking bamboo floor.

I’m listing this bus for a friend of mine whose husband recently passed away. She is moving to Denver and will not be taking the bus with her. Joyce and Forrest bought this van in 2014 to use for long distance trips. Forrest was a pilot and retired engineer who bought the van from another pilot. So, as pilots do, maintenance was logged in a meticulous manner and the logbooks are available in a Dropbox I’ve linked to below.

After purchase, the suspension and steering was rebuilt with all new parts to improve the driveability. This was followed by the overhaul of the 2000cc engine from a 1978 VW with a new carburetor, brake system replacement, and new tires. Some of the significant dates are:

Purchase in July 2014 with 82546 miles on the odometer

Suspension and steering rebuild October 2014 at 82556 miles

Engine overhaul in March 2015 at 83756 miles

New drive axle assemblies in March 2016 at 92893 miles

New tires mounted in April 2016 at 93736 miles

New Optima battery installed at 98630 miles

Brake rotors and pads replaced May 2017 at 100156 miles

The camper comes with all of the gear you will need for camping, including stove, refrigerator/freezer, a custom tent that attaches to the side, utensils, tools, and new spares (Forrest packed new gaskets, solenoids, and other spare parts in case of breakdown while in remote locations, just because that’s the type of cautious, meticulous guy he was). The spare tire is recently new and has not been on the ground. A new car (bus) cover is included to protect the bus when you're not driving it. Again, just show up with your clothes. This bus needs nothing in order to drive off and be used.

There are many more pictures than are on this eBay listing that I’ve placed in a Dropbox folder, along with a pdf copy of the maintenance logs. To get to the folder, CLICK THIS LINK!

The only thing I would change, if this bus were mine, are the side view mirrors. The ones that are on there are new and function just fine. However, Forrest removed the Gombi truck style chrome side view mirrors to install the current smaller ones. That left the additional mounting points open on the door. It’s your choice, but I would use those mount points on the door for what I think is a better looking sideview mirror, rather than filling or plugging them.

I will get a picture and description of the extra items that go with the bus added this weekend, but don't let that stop you from hitting "Buy It Now" before somebody else does!

Please drop me a line with any questions. If I can’t answer them, I can get you on the phone with Joyce.
