1982 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup Caddy Show Truck PERFECT!!! Garage Queen!!!

Price: - Item location: Prairie Village, Kansas, United States
Description:

1982 Volkswagen Rabbit

1982 Volskwagen rabbit pickup, aka, caddy, show truck. It pains me to do this as I planned to keep this truck forever, but things change.

2.0L 16V ABF CRATE motor with less than 10k miles. Jenvey (European based company) individual throttle bodies. Race header. TT cam gear. Jenvey DTA standalone fuel management system. Shaved bay that is as clean if not cleaner than the exterior. Rain tray removed. Tons of chrome!

Freshly powder coated 020 Transmission that was completely rebuilt when motor was installed.

Exterior. Countless hours of body work to make sure everything was lazer straight. Widened fenders, oem Porsche script door handles. Zero flaws including the spotless bed. The color is VW mocha anthracite. It's grey in certain lighting and metallic brownish in the sun. Paint is blemish free. I've had 70+ year old men with $100k 60's classics tell me how well the body work was done. It is that clean and straight.

Interior was completely redone in perforated suede and leather including the dash and headliner. Power recaro trophy seats recovered to match the rest of interior. Momo classic steering wheel. Rare digifiz (digital) cluster. Two sets of floor mats, one with Wolfsburg logo and the other with Porsche logo. JVC CD player with aux. interior is spotless!

Suspension. Everything is new, including control arms, poly bushings, front weitec coils, and a custom rear air shock setup with gauge and switch in the dash. Custom billet shifter.

Tectonics tuning full exhaust.

Wheel and tire setup. Completely refinished, without any blemishes, Porsche D90's that were blasted and given a brushed aluminum finish with a clear matte powder over top. 16x7 front with 165/45 and 16x8 rear with 195/40 tires. New windshield. Euro chrome front bumper. Custom roll pan with custom hideaway plate.

Engine and transmission run perfect and with the itb's, it has one hell of a throttle response. It's quick and handles like a go cart. Reason for sale? I just can't justify keeping it under a car cover in the garage and only getting it out when it's nice and when i have the time. So basically it never gets driven. It has been on an 8 hour round trip without one hiccup. Runs perfect and retains its temp with the added setrab fans.

Please look over all pics, see the video below of it when the build was completed before asking and ?'s. I will assist in any other pics wanted, videos, and if the buyer is transporting it across the US, I will help the buyer with the logistics if needed.

Truck is a multiple show winner including 4 best in show awards in the two seasons of car shows I entered. It is arguably one of the cleanest caddy's in the US!

The bad, if you call it bad. The digifiz is inop and only the turn signals and high beam indicator work. It was fully functional when I got it but after installing speakers behind the seats, I believe the cluster shared a ground with the radio and when I turned it up to test the new speakers the dash pulsated to the music and eventually the lights stopped working. I have not diagnosed it completely but it does have power. My guess is a blown resistor or something simple like that, but it's only an assumption. Throw out bearing is chattering when clutch is depressed. Horn isn't hooked up. Other than those three issues, there are zero issues. All lights, turn signals, dome light, etc.. All work. No leaks, no grinds, pop outs, etc...

The build took 3 years from ground up. I bought it from the second owner who was 65 years old and had no idea what he had. He said he bought it because it looked cool, lol. So it was built in Georgia, took a two year vacation in California and now is in my garage in Kansas City. Clean and clear title in hand.

Video of it freshly built. Note: bbs's and Porsche steering wheel do not come with the sale.
