1967 Volkswagen Single Cab truck
Offered for sale is a 1967 VW Single cab in very good condition. Many recent updates and repairs have been made to this vehicle.
THE DETAILS
ENGINE: The engine is a 1600 CC motor serial # B6420494 (1970 dual relief single port 47 BHP) The engine was rebuilt several years ago and runs smoothly. It starts every time, whether it is hot or cold and runs like new. Solid idle, and no flat spots during acceleration. It has a very minor oil leak which drips on occasion. No mechanical motor issues. I installed a freshly powder coated original air cleaner system which is mounted correctly to the motor and body.
TRANSMISSION: The transmission is in very good condition and very tight. It shifts smoothly and does not DROP out of gear. Axle seals are clean and dry. No mechanical transmission issues.
BRAKES: The brake system is in very good condition. The pedal is high and firm and there are no signs of master cylinder or wheel cylinder leakage. It stops in a straight line with no issues. The E brake is solid and adjusted properly and holds the vehicle with no issues.
TIRES AND WHEELS: The vehicle is equipped with 15 "original bus" rims that are powder coated to the factory color. The rims are straight and true and look new. The tires are newer (maybe 1k miles) OEM style FIRESTONE DELUXE CHAMPION 6.70-15. I have the commercial look painted (powder coated) VW hub caps installed which are brand new. I have a set of Chrome cabs if you like the chrome look.
ELECTRICAL: The electrical system has just had a major overhaul. I replaced all the switches, relays, bulbs, ignition switch, emergency flasher switch, the turn signal switch, the turn signal/flasher module, and components. I cleaned up all of the under dash and bulk head wires and controls. All electrical systems operate 100 % with no electrical issues. The charging system and starter system are all working as designed.
SPEEDOMETER: The speedo has been rebuilt and cleaned and a new cable was installed with all new bulbs. It works perfectly.

INTERIOR: The interior has just received a major overhaul. Using all high quality TMI products, I replaced the 1/3-2/3 front seat covers, installed new door panels with the correct clips, and front kick panels. I also installed a new solid panel 3pc TMI perforated headliner with the correct molding strips. All new door handles and pulls are in place. It has a radio delete plate installed in the dash. The dash is intact with no cuts or modifications. The floor mat is very good and all seat stops are in place. No excessive interior rattles. The floor boards are very nice. New fuse cover. There is a working original VW Jack, tire lug socket and bar mounted behind the seat. I installed a new washer bottle, hoses and nozzles. The wipers work as designed. I installed a brand new steering wheel with a new horn button with the original working horn. The steering column and brace were stripped and repainted and a new knee pad installed.
EXTERIOR TRIM: The bumpers are original with minor nicks, scrapes and small dents that have been touched up. Very solid bumpers.
TREASURE CHEST: This VW has 2 storage compartment doors (The treasure chest). All new hinges are installed and 2 NOS treasure chest lock mechinisms were found and installed along with the very hard to find NOS cylinder covers and gaskets (these 6 items were $1000.00). A 15 inch powder coated bus rim and new-----tire is suspended in the proper spare tire mount in the compartment.
FRONT DOORS: All glass is in very good condition with no major scratches. All door and window seals are newer. I installed two new sliding window locks. The door hinges are decent with very little play.
REAR ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine bay is decent with minor age wear and tear. All wiring is clean and orderly and works as designed. The battery is older but holds a charge and cranks as designed. The compartment hinges are clean and intact with marginal movement. The motor is clean and tidy but not highly detailed.
BODY: The body has an older paint restoration that is bright, shiny, and smooth to the touch. There are many small nicks, scratches and chips that have all been touched up. The paint shows well, but is not a 100 point show quality. The side and rear gates are in very good condition and in the same paint condition as the body. The hinges are tight with marginal movement. The locking clasps are all intact and work fine. The bed floor is in very good condition. Very solid for a 50 year old truck, nicks, scratches dents are to be expected. All touched up and looking fine. The front windshield glass and gaskets are new.
In summation, this is a very solid little truck with no major issues. Showable, but not high "trailer queen" caliber.
