Vehicle DetailsThe Triumph Spitfire was built between 1962 and 1980, and this final-year example is in beautiful condition.Fun to drive and very low running cost, this 1980 Triumph Spitfire 1500 was acquired by the current owner in July 2019 from an estate sale in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The car is finished in white over black vinyl upholstery and is powered by a 1,493cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include a new black soft top, a luggage rack, 13″ original wheels, front disc brakes, and a cassette stereo. US-market bumpers and lighting are retained. The interior features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl, which are complimented by black carpets and door panels. Equipment includes shoulder belts, manual-crank windows, and an AM/FM cassette stereo. A three-spoke steering wheel fronts the original woodgrain dash housing Smiths instrumentation including a 110-mph speedometer, a tachometer with 6k-rpm redline, and ancillary gauges. The turn signal switch was replaced in April 2022. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 48,835 original miles, approximately 250 of which have been added during current ownership.The 1,493cc inline-four features the original single Zenith-Stromberg carburetor and retains its factory emissions equipment. The entire car was repainted approximately 10 years ago. When the car was first acquired, new shocks and a new battery were added and an overall clean up was performed which includes painting warn parts and replacing all rubber and weather stripping. Service performed in April 2022 involved a carburetor adjustment, and replacement of the air pump, a critical part of the emissions equipment that allows the car to pass Colorado emissions.
