Triumph TR6 5 Speed
1974 Triumph TR-6 Convertible
1974 TR6 5 speed completely restored
Will accommodate tall drivers
I bought the car 8 years ago. The car I always wanted since age 16. Car was in a heated garage and left there, it must have spent over half its life in storage. It took me 3 years to restore. Car was treated multiple times with Ziebart when I found it. All the body panels including the rockers, floor pans and trunk pan are original and rust free. For those of you looking to buy a car like this at a low price not restored I would seriously reconsider; buy it all done instead; don't make the same mistake I did, the other way will probably end up costing you a lot more time, money and maybe your relationship; if you are in one, inthe end you probably won't end up with a car like mine. This car drives like a dream, no rattles or squeaks, lots of power, handles and sounds great, a real head turner. I don't even know where to start but here goes.
This is a body off rotisserie restoration / nut and bolt restoration. I worked at a truck shop for 20 years. All the nuts, bolts and steel are all truck grade high quality. All the parts came from Moss motors and Good parts.
Frame was stripped, reinforced differential mounting points, new T shirt was installed with sleeves to make it removable, frame was injected between baffles with expanding foam to stiffen frame and nothing can get in frame, stainless steel sleeves were added in the front box section where the bumper mount brackets go.Frame was painted with POR15
Steering rack completely rebuilt, new tie rods, stabilizer links, all new bushings and seals, adjusted and painted. All new front suspension complete, trunions, ball joints, all the front end bushings, front shocks and coil springs replaced, all truck grade bolts. Steering column rebuilt new bushings all along the column and new steering joints.New front and rear wheel bearings.
Rear suspension swing arms all sand blasted, all heavy duty heli coils installed for rear hubs, rear bushings and bearings all replaced, all drive axle joints replaced, Armstrong rear shocks rebuilt and polished.
Wheels are ROTA 16X7 with polished rim and gun metal grey spokes, Tires are brand new 215/65R16 all around. All the brake calipers and cylinders rebuilt, new master cylinder and reservoir, new brake hoses all around, new cables for parking brake.
Engine stripped, new gears and chain, new piston rings, pins, crank bearings, honed cylinders, rebuilt engine head. Finned alloy valve cover, free flow air cleaners, the carbs were professionally rebuilt and tuned. Carbs were micro polished in and out. Electric fuel pump, electronic ignition, new coil, high capacity aluminum radiator, good parts polished shroud, new coolant and W/washer reservoirs, 1 year old interstate battery, rebuilt alternator, new belts and gaskets., quad air horn set up. alarm system, all factory labels from the U.K, exhaust is magna flow with dual GT tips. (Exhaust sounds awesome)
Transmission is a 5 speed W58 from a Toyota supra. Transmission completely rebuilt all new bearings, bushings, syncros and shafts. New Sachs clutch set up, new clutch slave cylinder and reservoir. All new u joints on drive shaft and axle shafts.
The body was removed from frame, stripped and painted. It's a DuPont base coat clear coat. Color is VIPER RED.All the chrome is redone, even the rear tail light assemblies complete. The top is a Robertson and in very good condition, top frame was sanded and resprayed satin black.. head lights are glass housings with amber halos, upgraded bulbs. Pioneer stereo with detachable face, 4 Sony 6.5 speakers, dash is veneered birds eye maple. All the electrical accessories are on relays, the gauges were all stripped and polished, even the lettering in the gauges was redone with silk screen and all the insides and needles repainted. Custom steering wheel, custom shifter, seats are from an MGA and reupolstered, custom roll bar, custom pedals, foot well lighting., 12V power supply, extra legand belly room to accommodate tall drivers.
I have all the invoices and log book for the restoration; I also have hundreds of photos showing the complete restoration and all the assemblies being restored. I also have some original parts. I am 57 and ill. No point in hanging on to it if I can't enjoy it. My loss your gain. It's a beautiful machine and a joy to drive.
The car is only available for transport May 1st 2019. Car is in storage and i cant get it out until May 1st.
Good luck bidding
