1987 Supra- Hatchback with Removable Sport Roof- Automatic transmission- Non-turbo- 209,000 milesI purchased this car as a project and I have taken it as far as I can.Now it's time for the new owner to take it over and on to the next level.This is a great project car that I believe is not far from being drivable.WHAT'S BEEN DONE:- new battery- fixed multiple electrical issues- new spark plugs- new plug wires- all new vacuum hoses- new distributor cap- new GT tires (approx. 80% of tread left)- new heater hose- new alternator- new mufflerWHAT STILL NEEDS TO BE DONE:- fix the high-idle issue (see desription below)- leaking valve cover and rear main seal- fix hesitation and loss of power when in drive- the wiring harness needs more work or replacing- gas gauge is not working (not sure why)- some small, plastic interior parts need to be replaced- needs new brakes- needs paint- fix minor exterior cosmetic items (3 or 4 small dents. Nothing large)When I purchased the car, it would not start and the lights didn't work.It's now running and the lights are working.(note: the wiring harness was damaged so we bypassed it as a temporary workaround).The motor starts easily and runs, but I think the computer is reading something wrongso it idles too high, hovering around 2400 RMPs.I have asked about the idle issue on a Supra forum that I am part of and the consensusis that it's some kind of vacuum leak or a sensor issue.This was a Texas car and I have not seen any rust to worry about.Thanks for looking!
