The third generation of Celicas were introduced in August 1981 and were produced until July 1985. These cars marked a drastic change from their predecessors with a new angular body design and new 22R/22RE four-cylinder engines. The GT-S was added to the North American lineup of Celicas in 1982, featuring larger 14” wheels, fender flares, independent rear suspension, and a revised sporty interior. For the 1984 model year, the Celica was given a facelift and new taillights, and the GT-S convertible became available in limited numbers. The conversion was built by American Sunroof Company in California and included 1984 and 1985 model year Celica GT-Ss.
This car is one of only 1,716 GT-S convertibles were produced with a 5-speed manual out of the 4,248 that were built in 1985. It’s finished in Gloss Black over a grey cloth interior and has a black soft top.The fuel-injected eight-valve engine makes 116hp at 4,800 rpm and 140-lbs.ft. of torque at 2,800 rpm.
