This 1980 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 was acquired by the current owner in 2021 and subsequently underwent a full body off frame restoration at my shop Iconic Cruisers in Costa Rica, this is a showroom quality Land Cruiser. Work involved removing the body from the frame, repairing sheet metal, repainting the body in mustard yellow, and re-trimming the interior in black vinyl upholstery. This beautiful Land Crusier is powered by its original 3.0-liter diesel inline-four engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes 17″ steel wheels, brand new Falken Wildpeak MT tires, a removable hardtop with a white roof, a steel front bumper, integrated side steps, ambulance-style rear doors, a tow ball, and inward-facing rear jump seats. This Land Cruiser is offered by the owner’s father with refurbishment photos and a clean Florida title in the owner’s name. Black 17″ steel wheels are wrapped in 265/70 Falken Wildpeak M/T MT101 tires, while a matching spare is mounted to the swing-out rear carrier. The suspension features Master Nitro Gas shock absorbers, and stopping power is is provided by four-wheel drum brakes. The cab is painted to match the exterior and houses a 40/60-split bench seat that was reupholstered in black vinyl under current ownership. Interior equipment includes rubberized floor mats, lap belts, wind-up side windows, front vent window, a passenger grab handle, a glove box, and rear inward-facing jump seats. A three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of replacement instrumentation dash consisting of a 160 km/h speedometer and auxiliary readouts for oil pressure, fuel level, coolant temperature, and amperage, total mileage is unknown. A replacement data tag displays frame number BJ40-035679, which matches the VIN on the frame rail and the Florida title.
