Description:

1970 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40

This is a project to build the ultimate overlanding FJ40. My goal was to build a classic Land Cruiser that would be comfortable over long distances on pavement as well as an incredible offroader and overlander. All of the aftermarket parts listed have no use or miles on them andare brand new. It’s slowly been put together over 10+ years.I’ve done so much work on it and never fired it up and it needs final completion, so bring a trailer. Such is life. It has an amazing array of top-quality parts as follows:

1970 originally a factory soft top Land Cruiser currently outfitted w/hardtop with rare drop-down tailgate with chains, and top strut powered lift-up 4Runner style rear upper section. Clean Oregon title in hand.

3.4L 3B diesel engine from a 1985 Canadian BJ70

Australian H55F 5-speed withunicorn rare original top plateand super low first gear

Electric power steering from EZ Electric Power Steering

Vintage Air A/C using the actual last new factory Toyota 3B pulley sold in North America

Toyo 35” tires

Stealth Custom Series F5 16” wheels

SCAT Procar seats

4+Plus rock sliders

Roll cage

Cool Cruisers of Texas 3” Lift kit

4+Plus front winch bumper

Superwinch Talon 9.5RS winch w/synthetic line

4X4 Labs rear dual swingout bumper with jerry cans and spare tire holder

New complete wiring Harness 22 from American Autowire

Disc brake axles from the BJ70

Dakota Digital gauge cluster ready for install

New fuel tank

New clutch

Snorkel

New windshield weatherstripping

Superb Truck-Lite 7” LED headlights

That’s a ton of prime and expensive parts right there. The genuine 1970’s patina? Priceless.

Located near Boise, Idaho. It's not perfect, it needs to be completed; final wiring, steering linkage fix, and various odds and sods. It is and will be one of the best all-around FJ40s—more accurately, BJ42—ever to drive that wasn’t purchased for a quarter of a milllion dollars from one of the restomod companies. You can drive this when it’s done, not hide it in a climate-controlled garage. Take it hunting, fishing, overlanding, exploring. And with that H55F granny low gear, it will darn near climb a tree. Literally. As mentioned, all aftermarket parts on it are new, never used. Easy highway cruising using that 5-speed H55F with ice-cold A/C blasting, sitting in comfy new SCAT seats, effortless electric power steering (no hydraulic leaks or headaches), reliable new wiring, etc, etc. Sold as-is with no expressed or implied warranties, and may have issues not known or listed here. I’m a Cruiserhead, so come get this and chat Cruisers with me. Clear title, released on payment of cash, wire transfer or confirmed deposit of certified check drawn on major bank--sorry, no digital payments or personal checks. Thank you and cheers!
