1978 Toyota FJ Cruiser Land Cruiser

This 1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser has that vintage look of a true globe-trotting 4x4 adventurer. But as you dig into the details, this classic also has a ton of the right upgrades, including air conditioning. So it all comes together as the classic go-anywhere machine that delivers a true modern usability.
We love the look of the upgraded gray paint. It's a more modern respray that has a nice gloss. It signals that there has been a good restoration here. But it's not mean to be a trailer queen, and so there's also a hint of tough-as-granite quality. The dark paint goes nicely with the black details, like the hood latches, grille, bumpers, steel wheels, and swing-away spare tire mount. And the distinguished white top is pure classic FJ40.
Inside is a tasteful mix of classic and new. For example, you still have the vintage thin and grippy three-spoke steering wheel. Beyond that is the classic dash with correct gauges and even the four-wheel drive instructions are still affixed to the glovebox. But while this is pure nostalgia, you'll be enjoying all this from vastly improved seating. After all, those high-back bucket seats with headrest and plenty of bolstering were never around in '78. The rear jump seats have been reupholstered to match. Plus, there's newer vinyl floor cover. This is so you not only have a comfortable space, but also a durable setup for any time you decide to remove the hardtop and have the FJ a convertible. No matter if you're enclosed or open to the world, the modern R134a air conditioning is a handy addition you'll certainly enjoy. And you even get upgraded driving music with an AM/FM/CD stereo w/aux input.
Just like the rest of the vehicle, the engine bay has been given extra attention to keep this one fresh and handy. The FJ40 Land Cruiser was such capable machine that it was in production for nearly a quarter-century, but not all were created equal. A later example like this one has some of the best driving features. For example, you get the same F-series inline-six motor that has been the backbone of Toyota toughness, but in these later Land Cruisers, it has been enlarged to 4.2-liter. And you get to take better advantage of this added power with the four-speed manual transmission. And as you look underneath, there's more evidence of the all-around fresher and solid investment. The two-speed 4x4 transfer case and newer M/T rated tires keep this Land Cruiser a true off-road machine. Plus, power steering, power brakes, and newer shocks keep this a fine choice for the pavement, too.
This is the FJ40 that upholds its rugged reputation while also adding the right comforts, too. That makes for an irresistible total package that you need to get your hands on right now. Call today!!!
