1978 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 40 in outstanding original condition. The most coveted year of the FJ40s and last year of the classic round bezel. 117,175 original miles on the stock Inline 6 cylinder, 4.2L, 2F engine and factory 4 speed full synchromesh transmission. Meticulously maintained. Recent full tune up included oil/filter, antifreeze, spark plugs and wires, and brand new Heavy Duty Battery. DUI (Davis Unified Ignition) Distributor. Electronic ignition gives this vehicle instant starts, instant throttle response, and increased horsepower. It is also water, mud and vibration proof. Not to mention no more points, rotor and condensers to mess with. Only E0 (Ethanol-Free) premium gasoline has ever been used in this engine and it purrs. Header with exhaust out the rear of the vehicle for increased horsepower as well. Factory Power assisted Front disc, rear drum brakes work perfectly. (E-Brake too). Original Selectro locking hubs, four wheel drive, 2 speed transfer case (both High and Low) work perfectly. Old Man Emu Suspension kit includes springs, bushings and Nitro Charged Gas Pressured shock absorbers. 5 Brand new BF Goodrich 31X10.5" Mud Terrain Radial (KM2's) tires on all 5 Toyota original wheels . All 5 hubcaps are in good condition and on the vehicle.
The factory Toyota #031 (White) paint is in excellent condition on the interior and engine bay. The entire exterior of the vehicle was repainted back in the 90's and still shines up very nicely. I have a couple of bottles of touch-up paint left over from when I had the tailgate color-matched and painted, that will go with the vehicle. I use them periodically to touch-up scratches, nicks and rock chips here and there. Every factory spot weld is visible, and the entire vehicle has a fresh coat of wax on it. It has factory undercoating, a 2" tow hitch and 2 Euro/Jerry-can holders with locking metal straps (locks and spout included). Options one could order when purchasing it new from the dealer. Fenders are uncut, unmolested and have no rust on them. The original antennae is installed under the arrow (just slides right off). Forgot to remove it for the pictures. Front bumper holds the vintage Heavy Duty Ramsey 8000 LB. winch, in excellent condition, (comes with remote) and vintage fog lights that work perfectly. The removable Draw-Tite tow bar connects to the brackets on the front bumper so it can be easily towed (see pictures). Takes a 2" ball to tow, and comes with safety chains and a pair of tail lights that plug into a 4-prong flat light adapter. The original owner towed it behind his RV on hunting trips. Stock rear bumperettes and 2" ball on the hitch for towing. Has the "old-school" 5 prong light adapter (light adapter included to adapt to 4-prong flat light). See Pictures.
Interior is in excellent condition. Original seats (front and back) have no rips or tears in them. Front seats have the optional headrests, and rear seats still have their original straps that hold them up when not in use. All 4 seats have their original working seat belts. The headliner and visors are excellent ( no rips or tears). Original factory front floor mat is like new. (Rear mat is excellent as well). All gauges, lights, high-beam indicator light, heater, fan, rear heater, defrost, wipers, windshield washer squirter, horn, interior light, lighter, seat belts, windows, doors and locks work as they should. Even the "Fasten seat belts" light and buzzer work when you start it up. The dash has never been drilled or cut. Switches for the fog lights and off-road lights are all nicely mounted in the factory holes in the dash. The factory emergency glove box light is in the glove and has the original emergency light plug-in. All seals for the top and windshield are in excellent shape. Factory door seals are good. Factory roll-bar, with original pads. Comes with the original bottle jack under the driver's seat, and original jack handle bars behind the rear seat in their proper homes. (see pics.). Also comes with the TEQ Toyota Motor Co. factory tool kit bag which includes: Toyota Phillip's and Flat-head screwdrivers, Toyota pliers, 10, 12 and 14 and 17mm open-end Toyota wrenches, Toyota Motor Co. Crescent wrench, lug wrench, hubcap/wrench, spark-plug wrench and pry bars. (see pics). Audio Vox digital AM/FM Stereo with Cassette player and clock, and it works! I use a Bob Marley Bluetooth Box that connects via Bluetooth to listen to music downloaded to my phone. It fits perfectly in the console and charges with my phone charger. I will include it with the sale of this vehicle.
The Con-ferr style roof/safari rack holds 4 off-road halogen navigator lights, (hard covers included), axe and shovel. It is easily removed with 6 nuts and unplugging the lights. The top comes off with 22 bolts (see pictures). Side and rear ambulance doors are removable as well. Windshield folds down and hooks to the hood (see picture). Tailgate installs easily to the ambulance door bolt holes and holds the factory rear license plate holder.
Current Crater Lake Oregon Specialty Plates will go with the vehicle if purchased by an Oregon buyer. Vehicle is currently licensed through December of 2018. Comes with the original Toyota 2F Engine Repair manual, Toyota Land Cruiser Chassis and Body Repair Manual and a Haynes Toyota Landcruiser Automotive Repair Manual.(see picture).
