- Body & Undercarriage ConditionThis Saab 96 has had 2 owners and one paint job in it's 52 year history. The second owner had it painted in 1985 to a more metallic blue than the original. The body has dings, scratches, checking paint and a handful of areas where the paint does have some bubbling. What you WON'T find on this car is serious rust. The undercarriage is perfect and the battery box along with the body panels seem to be VERY solid. Please see photos for a body panel inspection.
- Interior Condition -The seats were reupholstered in 1996 and still look amazing. The dash has a few cracks and the lower door cards need some help. The rear seats are near perfect and the headliner doesn't sag or have any holes. The carpet seems original.
- Electrical Condition -
Lights, turn signals, emergency flashers and dash oil/alternator indicator lights work as they should. Fan works as well. The radio has a mind of its own sometimes and the horn doesn't work yet, still troubleshooting.
- Mechanical Condition - (please see video walk around)
The engine fires up with easy when cold with just a few pumps of the accelerator. I disabled the the auto choke a while ago due to the RPM's not coming down when warm. Recently I put in new points, did an oil and filter change, new spark plugs and a new fuel filter. I'm sure it could use some fine tuning but it hits 65 mph no problem. The clutch and brake system work well, it shifts into all 4 gears as it should and reverse works well. There are ZERO leaks from the engine or transmission.
- Overall Condition -
This isn't a perfect 96, but it's going to bring you a lot of attention wherever you take it! Drive it as is or enjoy it as you restore it.
