1973 Porsche 911 RS Ruf Replica Seal Gray Plus Bonus Matching Porsche FS Bike

I am pleased to offer this very unique 1973 911 RS RUF replica. How did it all start?

Some History:

The previous owner learned about a 1973 911T that was available in Northern California and had been sitting in a warehouse for many years. A copy of the certificate of authenticity for the '73 911T is shown at the end of the picture section.

The previous owner had always wanted to build an RS replica and this car was going to be the base for that endeavor . It was in need of full restoration but it had very little rust and was in fact an excellent candidate for what he wanted to do.

Enter - a 1978 Ruf Targa: The previous owner had learned about a 1978 Ruf Targa that had been crashed and was owned by a gentleman who was trying to start a Ruf dealership. He figured that adding the Ruf engine and trans to the 1973 911 (RS project) would only make it faster and more unique. He was able to purchase the motor and trans.

The car was sent to the shop in Tuscon, AZ for the transformation to be done. It was completely disassembled and the body was taken down to bare metal using walnut chips. The floor pans and front suspension battery box area were clean and original with no issues, as was the rear of the car. Before the car was completely metal finished and prepped for paint, SC fender flares were butt welded on to complete the RS look. The owner chose a new Cayman S color called Seal Grey.

Using the '78 Ruf motor, Redline Service built the engine to a 3.2 liter displacement and added MSD ignition, a pair of PMO carbs and rotary AC compressor. The suspension was changed to that of a 911SC with factory original Koni shocks and adjustable torsion spring plates in the rear. Cross drilled brake rotors and 964 brake calipers were installed in both the front and rear. The fiberglass front spoiler, rear spoiler and deck lid were purchased from American International Racing. The dash was finished with a set of white face gauges redone by Palo Alto Speedometer. The carpets and German houndstooth Recaro seats were reupholstered by Tony at Autobahn Interiors in San Diego. To top off the interior, a rear seat delete with 911SC lockable glove box door was added. The project took 4 years and hundreds of hours to clean, inspect, recondition or replace literally every part of the car. The result is stunning as the pictures clearly show. Unique, stylish and blazingly fast.

Chassis VIN: 9113103050

Ruf Engine #: 63821005

Mileage on the chassis is approx. 67,XXX +/- miles with the motor only having a few thousand miles driven since being rebuilt. Enjoy the classic looks of this '73 with the awe inspiring performance of the Ruf motor along with the comforts of working AC. When you reach your destination, you can either walk or dismount your Porsche mountain bike and go for a ride. This is truly a spectacular package.

Did I mention a bonus?

In fact I did. The owner is throwing in a matching Porsche FS mountain bike as well as a rare factory roof rack. The roof rack bolts to the rain gutter and was converted to a bike rack (how convenient).
