1987 PORSCHE 944 TURBO - LIMITED SLIP DIFF - UNMOLESTED - NEW TIMING BELT - WATER PUMP - CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER
I purchased this car in Pensacola Florida earlier in the year from the owner of 5 years. I had never had a 944 Turbo but have 911 and 928 and with values going up I thought I would find a good example and keep and drive in hopes it would be a good investment. The car arrived and I was traveling so it was kept in my garage until I had a chance to check it out. Upon inspection the car runs and drives good and the interior is in nice condition except for area on Drivers seat and some tightening up of items. TheSatin Black Metallic paint is shiny but appears to be a respray without the attention to detail on prep I would require.
The power windows, radio, blower motor, lights and controls all appear to work. It has an aftermarket tasteful exhaust that appears new and the car has the original 16" staggered phone dial wheels. The very nice gentlemen I purchased from said he recently replaced the Timing Belt and Water Pump. He added some blue LED lights to the Instrument Cluster and foot wells that you will either like or dislike. According to the PO the power steering pump was replaced but the steering seems to be a bit stiffer than usual; but then I have never driven a 944 Turbo.
10 years ago I would have dove into this car with a bunch of enthusiasm; fixed the minor things that it needs and had myself a nice car; like others I own. This is an excellent car for that; needs some attention, but good bones. The fact it has the Limited slip differential was much of the reason I purchased sight unseen as it is a rare option.
This is a good 951 for the price and a great way to get into one that could be driven while fixing up. The PO said he noticed the odometer broke after he installed the blue lighting and he bought the new gears to repair and gave them to me. I was going to remove and send to North Hollywood Speedometer for repair but will not be doing that now. The Clutch Master Cylinder is being replaced this week as I noticed it was leaking and didn't want it to fail on the new owner.
