1987 Porsche 928
Intro:
For your consideration is this excellent condition 1987 Porsche 928 S4. This 928 should meet the needs of the high standards Porsche enthusiast for reasons such as:
S4 model, original unmodified 5.0L 32 valve V8 with 315 horsepower
Has traveled only 76,000 miles, documented with receipts and CarFax
Timing belt and waterpump service in 2022
Extensive maintenance history/receipts dating back to 1987, including original window sticker
No accidents, clean title
Presents more like a vehicle that has traveled only 40,000 miles. Beautiful condition exterior, interior, and engine bay, all just detailed in August 2024
One of the best color combos: Guards Red with tan interior
Runs and drives excellent. New tires and other recent maintenance.
This vehicle is from my personal collection. I have had other 928s and am a Porsche enthusiast with a 911 as a daily driver. I take the listings and presentations of my vehicles very seriously. Please see and be confident with my 100% feedback. Feel free to call or message with questions.

Please see the album linked above which has 230 photos ranging from exterior, interior, engine bay, receipts, and more. Note: The Guards Red color seems to show more properly in the video than some of the photos. In some of the photos the red/orange is lighter than it is in real life.
Exterior:
This 928 S4 is an absolutely beautiful and impressive example. This is the type of example that one can just stare at and admire whether it is sitting in their garage or at a cars and coffee event. Its condition should meet the needs of the most detailed Porsche enthusiasts that want an example to drive.
The finish on this 928 is the highly demanded Guards Red. The reddish orange tint is so vibrant, especially in the sun. The condition of the finish on this 928 is excellent throughout. Lacking are issues like orange peel, cracking paint, peeling, drips, masking lines on weatherstripping, and overspray. The finish matches properly on all of the panels in terms of quality, glossiness, tint, and condition. The photos and video show well how excellent of condition the finish is in. I had the front bumper refinished due to some light wear, so that is now basically perfect. The fenders have only some typical light stone chips smaller than a pencil tip at the front extremities which do not really even show up in photos. Areas like the doors, roof, and rear quarters are not far from perfect. The rear bumper has a spot on the passenger rear corner that has been touched up and is really the only notable spot on the finish to mention. The finish was just detailed in August 2024 and sealed.
The body of this 928 is in impressive shape. Gaps and body lines throughout are proper. Panels open and close with ease and properly. Body panels are straight and smooth. This 928 has never been in an accident. Pictures are included when I had the front bumper off for repaint showing those areas in original condition and straightness. VIN tags are still present on the body panels including the front bumper. The glass is in nice shape and is not sandblasted. Lenses throughout are in nice shape. The tail lights are excellent with no cracking. The front bumper is straight and not warped. The rear spoiler’s finish is excellent. There are absolutely no spots of rust and no bubbling. The rear quarter windows are excellent with absolutely no rust around them. The original chrome wheels are in impressive shape with only the passenger front having a little bit of chrome peeling. The underbody and suspension is all in appropriate condition for a well taken care of lower mile example.
Unless someone is looking for a 10,000 mile museum perfect example, this 928 should meet their needs. As stated it presents impressively. The photos and video shows it well and it looks as good in person as it does in that footage.
Interior:
The interior of the 928 S4 is such a comfortable place to be. Condition wise this example is in impressive shape. There are no odd smells, no evidence of having been smoked in, and no excessive areas of wear. There are absolutely no cracks on the dashboard or gauge pod! The leather throughout is supple and in excellent shape. The leather matches properly in terms of color tint, texture, and quality. The driver seat bolster has some very typical signs of use for the age but is not nasty or excessively worn. The foam in the driver seat is still firm but yet comfortable. The passenger and rear seats show little to no signs of use. The carpet throughout is in impressive condition with no stains to note, no cigarette burns, no smells. The original floor mats are in great shape. Two additional front floor mat sets are included. Touch points like the door panels, shifter, steering wheel, and knobs are all in impressive condition. The gauge cluster is excellent with no cracks or notable scratches. A nearly complete tool kit is present as is the Porsche air compressor.
The interior on this 928 is well beyond what would be expected for the age and miles. It is a comfortable place to be and matches well with the excellent condition of the exterior.
Mechanical Condition:
Mechanically this 928 is extremely well sorted and documented with receipts. The receipts date all the way back to 1987. There is so much value in that! The BIG timing belt service and waterpump have been taken care of so this 928 should be good to go for some time. This is a hop in and go example that drives so nicely. It starts every time easily whether cold or warm. No electrical “gremlins” are present to note. No warning lights on the dash are present or pop up while driving. The engine does not smoke and does not consume oil or coolant. The engine sounds proper with absolutely no knocks or valvetrain noise issues. The engine feels strong and with proper power throughout the whole RPM range. The engine has proper oil pressure and runs at a proper temperature. The exhaust is in excellent unmodified condition with catalytic converters still present. The A/C system is one area that could be addressed if one wanted. It currently is not blowing cold but has recently in the past and has been serviced in the past. The automatic transaxle shifts properly and does not exhibit any issues. The suspension is comfortable yet sporting. There are no odd suspension noises or issues to note. The steering system works great and feels great without whining or other apparent issues. The braking system is excellent, without leaks, and without vibration. The tires are new Yokohama Advans in the proper stock size. This 928 drives comfortably, smooth, and sportingly! Gauges, headlights, turn signals, wipers, windows, and etc. are working properly.
Here are some examples of documented maintenance performed on this 928:

Conclusion:
The Porsche 928 S4 is such a special car and a special piece of Porsche history. A price of $66,897 in 1987 equivalent to around $180,000 in today’s money made it quite the exclusive luxury grand tourer. The S4 is the model to get due to so many valuable updates to the exterior cosmetics and more importantly the engine. The 5.0L 32 valve 315 horsepower V8 feels refined yet offers a deep rumble and excellent acceleration for the era. Another benefit of these cars is there is so much support and multiple great parts suppliers out there.
This 928 example has significant value in how excellent it is cosmetically, how excellent it drives, and how complete of service history it has. The important timing belt and water pump service was recently just completed. The addition of new tires, other maintenance, and just being detailed inside and out makes this 928 ready to be enjoyed. This is a stand out example with an excellent accident free history. Considering all of this I have tried to set the asking price fairly but offers will be considered.
This Porsche 928 is located at my residence in Sussex, WI zip 53089. Please let me know of any special considerations as many things can be worked out. Different forms of payment are acceptable. I do not mind working with your shipper, helping you find a shipper, and pending distance and for a fee I could potentially even deliver it.
