Porsche 944 S2 Maritime Blue one of the last US Spec Porsche
1991 Porsche 944 S2
The condition of this 944 is excellent and very original. I would classify this as a high level survivor/driver. What makes this 944 S2 special is the ultra-rare Maritime Blue (paint code M5A) color. Searching through the internet and various forums, I was not able to locate another US spec 944 in this color. The paint looks great and has great luster. There are minimal signs of use to be expected on a car of this age/miles. I had some of the nicks professionally touched-up. The wheels have been refinished recently and are wearing brand new tires. The front brakes are near new and the rears have about 75% life remaining. The top is in perfect condition and so is the vinyl glass and operates as it should.
The interior looks amazing and is original. The seats show minimal wear. The carpets, headliner, dash, and door panels look perfect. All the gauges function properly. The A/C blow semi cold and might need to be recharged. The later-style radio works perfectly. All the lights function properly as well.
This 944 is a wonderful driving example and evident that it has never been abused. The power feels great with excellent low-end torque. The brakes are responsive and steering is very tight. There are no squeaks or rattles. This Porsche feels very solid and would be great for either daily use or long weekend tours.
This Porsche comes with the owner's manuals/books, tool kit, spare, jack, tonneau cover, and lots of records/notes, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
Recent work includes complete service as well as timing chain, Koni shocks, and replacement of the torque tube.
The S2 was the final iteration of Porsche's 944 model. It was the largest displacement and most powerful normally aspirated example. It's 3.0L engine was the largest 4-cylider engine produced in the world. This dual overhead cam/16-valve engine produced 211hp. The braking and suspension package coupled with nearly perfect weight balance made these cars wonderful for spirited drives. The challenge is many of these did not survive the test of time. Furthermore, the 3.0L engine 944s were only built for a few years and production was limited.
