I am the second owner of this 2004 Thunder Ranch Wide Body Spyder replica made to fit tall drivers. The builder and I are both 6'3" tall, and this car was made with a special cockpit. Nathan M. Built this car in New Mexico, and it now resides in Colorado Springs. A number of features make this car special, and it is a joy to drive. It is powered by a 2276cc VW based motor built by Lee Stauffacher in Albuquerque with approximately 4000km (original 1600 left behind), 166hp/190 ft lbs (adjusted for altitude), 44idf Webers, Unilite solid state ignition, Quaife torque biased differential, aluminum interior with leather seats, VDO spyder gauges, Nardi Classic wheel, Dario plexiglass windshield, Koni shocks, 3 piece aluminum 16" wheels, 4 wheel disc brakes, Brandwood shifter, fresh tires. I have never abused this car, it is a sunny day driver for curvy roads. Cosmetically the car is very good, with a general patina of use. This car is built for driving, and not a show queen. No top, radio, or heater, just an authentic recreation of the original spyder experience at a fraction of the cost of a real 550. This car never fails to elicit my smiles and those of my passenger and onlookers. A new second home and attendant expenses force me to sell this wonderful toy.
