1980 Porsche 88P Race Car

This car is a tribute to some of Porsche's finest and most promising Indy car development and racing efforts of the late 1980s. This model "88P" is finished in the proper Quaker State livery and built to late 1980's specs. It was built by the late Roger Mitchell, a prominent race car builder and crew chief who resided in Denver at that time.
During the late 1980s Porsche participated in the Indy Car series, which included the Denver Grand Prix. The Porsche team used Roger's facilities and assistance while here in Denver. When Porsche left Indy Car competition during the 1989 season, Roger acquired a huge stash of spare parts which the team had brought with them to Denver. Included were all of the steering, suspension, brakes, wheels and enough external body parts to complete a spare car. As was Porsche's practice, then and now, nearly all of the drive train parts returned to Stuttgart. Upon this foundation the Indy car was built.
In his inventory Roger had an 88C March tub plus a compatible and fresh Cosworth drive train. This tub was virtually the same as the ones March sold to Porsche as their original supplier. The Cosworth power train also worked well as many other racers, not associated with Porsche, used this combination. So, altogether Porsche, March and Cosworth components were mated to create a very proper Porsche "88P" tribute car.
The car competed a few times here in the Denver area during the early 1990s. It ran well and never had any incidents or damage whatsoever. It was certified for both CART and USAC events. Since then it has been owned by a Denver collector and has been preserved in his museum. Included with the car are some spare parts, such as an extra set of wings, a transmission case and some internal parts.
The asking price is $50,000. Please contact Dick at 630-842-5475 (cell) for further information.
The manufacture date on this race car is 1988. It does not have a normal VIN therefore it is listed as a 1980.
