Vehicle DetailsFOR SALE: 1976 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400. This is a beautiful, numbers-matching example of a true W50 Formula 400 in it's original color scheme. The car just underwent a fully documented professional body restoration, strip to bare metal and repaint on a completely solid and rust free body. The exterior of the car is done in it's original code 78 Carousel Red (orange) with black accents, and all new decals from Phoenix Graphix. All new weatherstripping. The underneath of the car is in clean, excellent condition. The exterior of the car is a 10, and could be described as perfect. Zero dents, zero scratches, zero issues.
The interior is deluxe black vinyl with new seat upholstery, seat belts, shifter bezel, door panels, and door sills. The car features AC, power windows, power locks, power steering, power brakes, rear defrost, etc etc. Everything works perfectly except the factory clock, which is common on these cars. The interior is in great condition. All of the exterior lighting has been updated to LED, with sequential turn signals both front and rear, and halos built into the headlights.
The drivetrain is the original matching-numbers 400 Pontiac engine with the TH350 automatic transmission. The engine has been rebuilt and modified to make much more power than it originally did. It features a Ram Air III camshaft, aluminum intake, Ram Air cold air induction system, roller rockers, true dual exhaust, etc etc. I would estimate the power level to be at least 300 horsepower. The car sounds absolutely amazing. It's totally reliable and doesn't leak a drop of anything.
The suspension consists of Viking 2-way adjustable shocks on all four corners, with adjustable coilover springs in the front and BMR springs in the rear. The wheels are 17 inch Year One honeycombs wrapped in 255/45/ZR17 tires. The car handles like it's on rails.
All in all, this Formula is a unique car that takes it's full OEM original look and melds it with a few small updated modifications that bring it into the modern world and give it a stunning appearance. This car has never seen a car show yet, so the new owner is going to have a lot of fun garnering the attention that this Formula is certainly going to attract as soon as it hits the public.
