1989 PONTIAC TURBO TRANS AM GTA-SE 20TH ANNIVERSARY PACE CAR # 345
1989 Pontiac Trans Am TURBO TRANS AM GTA-SE
1989 Pontiac - 20th Anniversary Turbo Trans Am
You are looking at a very rare car. This was the 345th TTA built out of 1555 TTA cars that were produced in 1989. Moreover, this was one of the 1324 cars that came optioned with T-Tops and leather interior. Mileage is true and correct. Carfax report is clear with no salvage, accidents, flood damage, mileage variations, etc.
I purchased this car from an enthusiast in Orange CA in June 2, 2009. I am a car collector and own many Grand Nationals, T-Types, Typhoons, etc. When I purchased the car it had 71,350 miles on it. It was always maintained and moved and driven. But due to the sheer number of cars I had in my collection and my busy work, as you can see the car was used rarely. When I received the car I remember driving it on 280 freeway and watch the cars clearing out of my way as the TTA flew down the lane. This is a very fast car even though you can comfortably drive in a stop and go traffic without any problem. But when you get on it, the car is scary fast and speeds up like a bullet.
The car was shown on May 2009 at an all Pontiac Show in El Toro, CA and won the second place for 1982-1992 Firebirds and Trans Ams based on the information given to me by the previous owner.
Here is some additionalhistory on the car: I believe I am the 3rd owner of the car. As I indicated the owner before me was also an enthusiast who apparently had interest in and owned GN, GNX, Syclone and Typhoon. He spoke very highly about this car and gave me quite a bit of information about the history of the car. he indicated that he purchased the car in CA and he used the car as a daily driver until he sold it to me as he was purchasing a Turbo Supra. Based on what he learned from the original owner, the engine was rebuilt at 57K miles by the original owner at a cost of nearly $8000. Quality components were used during the rebuilt such as JE pistons, Moly rings, Billet Main Caps, ARP bolts and studs, double roller timing set, high volume oil pump, Manley valves, Crane roller cam, roller lifters, Comp 941 springs, etc. Engine was built .30 over bore in August 2007. Transmission was rebuilt as well. other improvements to the car included the following: ported and polished heads (light), 135 lb springs, 30 lb fuel injectors, 2800 rpm stall, lockup converter, cold air system with K&N filte, LT1 MAF & MAF translator, Scanmaster 2.1, Turbo Tweak Chip, steel canter main caps, JE pistons, total seal rings, Accufab adjustable fuel pressure regulator, Crane 209 Billet Roller Cam, ATR stainless steel exhaust, 3 inch cat back, ARP main studs, ARP head bolts, Comp Cams hydraulic roller lifters, Manley stainless steel exhaust valves, Manley Stainless intake valves, double roller timing chain (no tensioner), ported front cover, high volume oil pump with booster plate, external high volume fuel pump (not wired up). In addition to this work done by the original owner in 2007 or thereabouts, the second owner completed the following work in or around 2009: Keyless entry and alarm (March 2009) (this system is currently disconnected but still on the car and remote control comes with the car), upgraded AM/FM/CD Player (March 2009) (I was in the process of further upgrading this as a new version has already been ordered but not installed), custom TTA floor mats with logo (April 2009), tinted windows and glass T-tops (April 2009), (these are glass T-Tops and not Lexan), front seat leather recovered (March 2009), PCV in line check valve, high strength universal joints (April 2009), Performance brake pads front and rear (April 2009), (I was in the process of having new pads installed which will be completed soon), power antenna rebuilt (May 2009), differential serviced (80W/145W synthetic and posi additive), polished up pipe installed (May 2009), polished Turbo cover installed (May 2009), torque strap installed (May 2009), new battery, new hood pad. All of these work have receipts and paper trail. I do not have for some reason transmission work receipts, I suspect they were misplaced). In addition to all of these, after purchasing the car I had the following work done: Regular maintenance by my in house mechanic (I have around 100 cars in my collection and I have a mechanic who works exclusively on my cars), I had the new leather installed for the steering wheel, I purchased a brand new fiberglass wing for the car replacing the factory painted foam wing on the car. I had the car painted completely and obtained all brand new emblems and stickers and decals were added. and had them installed. This work was done approximately 4-5 years ago. I am sure I have some back uppaperwork on that. Fiberglass wing alone cost over $750 to purchase at the time as I recall).
The car starts first time every time. It is a strong running car with a mean growl. I have video of the engine running and many more photographs. There is stalling, no smoking, great oil pressure 40 psi hot and 80 psi cold, no overheating even in stop and go CAQ traffic in summer, with AC cranked. AC blows cold. Stock turbo, slightly worked heads, stock intercooler. T-Top rubber in great condition. All the rubber is brand new in the car as a result of the paint job I had done. No problem with the paint. wing is in excellent shape. Personalized plates if you are a California buyer : FASTTA. Registration is current and clear title.
I just installed all four brand new tires on the car last week. It runs and performs excellent. These cars gain tremendous value over the years. This particular example comes with a lot of upgrades while it still keeps its original look and feel, it is much superior and faster than the factory version. There is no rust anywhere in this CA car. On the freeway turbo kicks in with a lot boost and pins you at the back of the seat and gains speed at a blink of an eye. I drove the car last weekend and at 90-95 mph I felt like I was holding the car back.
The car is ready to be driven anywhere.
I tried the give as much information as possible. If you have any questions please email me here and I will be happy to respond to the best of my ability. If you win the auction, you can pay me via bank to bank transfer or with a bank certified check. I will not release the title or the car until and unless the funds actually clear to my account which maybe few days after I receive the transfer or the certified check. I do not accept cash or trades of any kind.
Good luck with the auction if you are interested in the car and want to bid.
P.S.
(I hate to include this portion but in light of what usually happens when I advertise a car, I feel obliged to address some small group of people: Please no silly questions and or offers. This is not a cheap car. Please do your homework and you will see the price range for these cars. I have a reserve on the car. Please don't ask me what it is. If you have an offer to make, make it and I will politely respondif that will do it. We can go from there if you are in a close range. I will not be showing the car for tire kickers. If you are serious I can set up a viewing and inspection of the car, but you must be in the range I do not want to waste your time and my time if you have unreasonable expectations as to the price of the car. I am not trying to unload the car, it is not driven much and I am getting older. But, I would be happy to hold on to it, no rush. One last thing to those people who are not real buyers but wholikes to make comments, critiques, suggestions, etc., please don't, this is not a car forum, it is an ad to sell a car. Save your comments and if this is not a car for you, just look elsewhere please.Thank you).
