Description:
1989 Pontiac Trans Am 20th Anniversary Edition
This is a car collector's dream! It is a TRUE survivor, with no changes or modifications. It rolled off the line just the way it is now. Except for the 28,200 miles on it. Yep, those are the ACTUAL miles! Everything is original, right down to the tires! The spark plug wires have the "20th Anniversary" stamp on them. All the badging is in place and correct, with matching numbers. Absolutely no rust. No resto done anywhere - it didn't need it. There were only 1,555 of these cars made in 1989. Most are wrecked, have super high mileage, are modified, or just plain driven hard. Not this one.It has been museum-kept and very carefully cared for. All the fluids were drained while in the museum, so no sludge in the gas tank or radiator to deal with. The engine in this car is the Turbo V6. Before all of you V8 people start shaking your heads...this is the same engine that was in the '87 Buick GNX, which was the fastest production car ever made at that time. This engine will not disappoint you. It will get you down the road. Quick.
The only transmission Pontiac offered in this car was an automatic. It doesn't detract from it's value as a collector car. The only colors offered, both exterior and interior, are on this car. White exterior, with a saddle tan and black interior. The T-tops are smoked glass and lift out. It has every bell and whistle available from the factory.
CONDITION: T-tops are in great shape, and do NOT leak. The seals around the openings are still supple, not dried out. The overall paint looks great. The interior is beautiful - it looks untouched except for one little scuff. The doors close tightly, just like new (better than my 2014 Mustang!) All the gauges work, as does everything else. All the trim work is bright and good. No noises or smoke at start-up. It has very few tiny condition issues, and they are.... 1) The driver's side headlamp hydraulic cover needs a small adjustment to bring the gaps in line. This is a simple turn of the screwdriver job, and common for hydraulic lamp covers. 2) The driver's seat shows some very light leather scuffing. 3) The hood and hatch hydraulics need to be replaced. I did not do this, as the final buyer of the car may have their preference as to what they want to do. 4) There is an extremely small pin-sized ding in the body just to the left of the hatch. The paint is not marred, and this would pull out easily. 5) The fiberglass nose piece has a couple of short, hairline cracks. Not unusual for cars with this feature on the front end.
Please understand that we did not fix the small issues since we wanted it to be a true survivor. Any repair or restoration will be the new owner's decision and responsibility.
This car is being sold "AS IS, WHERE IS". You are welcome to come see it, or send your mechanic to look at it. All I ask is a couple of days notice so I can be here to open the garage. NADA currently lists this car at $50,500 for the high end. Hagerty lists the high end ('concours' condition) at $45,000. Because there are only little cosmetic repairs needed, I have listed it at a lower price. Much lower than it is worth. However, the hubby says, "sell it", because he wants his parking spot in the garage again. He's not a 'car guy'. Imagine that!! So up for sale it is! You could take this beauty to any car show, and win in your class. You just don't see them anymore. Especially not in the excellent condition that this one is in.
Only serious buyers, please. Once your payment has cleared both your bank and mine, you will be given possession of the vehicle and the title. Not before. Transport: Once payment is cleared, you will be responsible for arranging and paying for shipping or transport. The seller assumes no responsibility for the vehicle past that point. Please use a reliable transport company for your own sake! If you're interested, I would advise you to bid quickly. This will go fast, especially if a Pontiac or Pace Car collector happens to view the listing.
HAPPY BIDDING, and GOOD LUCK!
