63 Tempest Wagon #s Matching V8 Manual Car Beautiful Rock Solid 1 of 1,561 Rare
1963 Pontiac Tempest Wagon Super Clean V8 Manual
You are bidding on a super-rare 1963 Pontiac Tempest Wagon car. Only 1,536 V8 wagons were produced in ’63. This Tempest has the original numbers-matching factory 336ci motor with dual-quad setup added and original 3-speed manual trans-axle. This was built for the intention of drag racing so it was ordered with V8, manual posi transaxle and tach dash. This wagon is in ABSOLUTELY GREAT CONDITION and is mostly original still with some custom touches. The body is all-original with no rust, patch panels or even any bondo and has been restored with a show-quality silver metallic paint job. The silver metallic paint looks factory-fresh, glows brightly in the sun and it shows how straight the body is! The slightly-custom interior is in great condition with vinyl and velour seats. All of the mechanicals have been restored…all new braking, steering and suspension components too!
This is a rare classic car with V8, Automatic Transmission and a reserve to protect some of its value. If the reserve is not met we will work with the high bidder to complete the sale. Bid retractions are not accepted. Retracting your bid for an incorrect amount without entering a corrected amount is a clear attempt to reveal the Reserve as well as a violation of eBay policy. We block bidders who violate this policy and also report the violation to eBay.
The Body is the original factory parts it was born with and is super straight. The body is rock solid with no rust or patch panels on the body and floor! The only repair was under the battery. The body was restored in 2006. The body was completely stripped and media blasted and the current silver metallic repaint was sprayed and is very close to show quality with no fading, overspray, or defects other than a few chips from use. There are no dings, dents or damage to the body and no swirl marks. The body had no damage or repairs needed before painting, it’s that nice and straight. A factory Pontiac Super Duty hood scoop was added by the owner.
The condition of the chrome and brite work is in great-to-excellent condition. Original bumpers were rechromed and are super straight and look like new! All the stainless trim pieces were repolished.
Glass is in great condition with new weatherstripping installed. New windshield installed.
All of the windows, doors, tailgate, and hood operate, lock and unlock.
The Interior is in beautiful shape with custom red vinyl and velour seats and matching panels. The seat material is not original but the frames are. No wear on the seats or door panels and all of the electrical components on the dash work. (except for the radio and fuel gauge). The gauge itself works but it appears that the ground is not hooked up to the tank. It does have an electric fuel pump used as a pusher to the mechanical pump. The steering wheelis an aftermarket piece that is in like-new condition.
The Drivetrain is original! The motor was completely rebuilt in 2010. The 336ci, yes 336ci (bore/stroke) not 326ci engine, and was rebuilt by a local shop (Horsepower Unlimited) to factory specs and a dual-quad setup was installed. Motor has roughly 100 miles on it, runs great, doesn’t smoke, leak or have any issues. Trans-axle is original with a new clutch assembly. A local transmission shop did the clutch installation work but did not finish re-installing the trans-axle due to health reasons. The trans-axle was installed sometime later by the owner but the clutch assembly is out of adjustment or is the wrong clutch since it does not quite fully disengage when stopped. It does shift into all gears and drives but it needs to be serviced to fix the problem. The trans axle is the original and has never been serviced.
New belts, hoses and battery recently installed.
All new braking systems were installed.
New suspension parts…ball joints, springs, shocks
Steers and brakes as if it was new.
Again, this is a bare-bones wagon with manual brakes, manual steering and manual trans. Really no options other than the V8 and tach in the dash.
The Undercarriage: is in beautiful condition! Frame and floors are solid original pieces with no repairs or patches. The exhaust is custom duals and is in great condition. The 15” Chrome CRAGAR wheels are very nice and so are the tires.
Other info:
This car has not been regularly driven for the last ten years but has been maintained and stored in a heated garage. It could use some detailing to bring out all the beauty!
Transaxle does have a leak.
Again, the car does run and drive but the new clutch assembly needs to be adjusted/corrected so that it can be driven. It may require a new clutch assembly as this may not be correct. We recommend the car to be towed or trailered to its destination for this reason. The car will drive under its own power and can be driven onto a transport/trailer.
Car comes with some receipts, one set of factory keys, owners manual and clear Ohio title stating 67,000 original miles.
I realize that it is difficult to purchase a vehicle you may not be able to inspect in person. I build vehicles too – so I try to show you everything I would want to see if I was buying a vehicle for myself. As you can see by my feedback (100% positive), I describe my vehicles accurately. I have sold other vehicles on eBay to happy buyers worldwide so you can be confident when making a purchase.
This description includes a video (the first picture should have a “Play” arrow on it). The video may not play on all mobile phones. Please view it on your computer if it doesn’t play on your cell phone.
I have made my best effort to accurately represent the car based on my expertise as a vehicle builder, what I have observed in evaluating it and preparing it for sale, and what I have been told by the owner, but this is the extent of my knowledge. Please ask questions before bidding! This is being solid AS IS with no warranty or guarantees and is up to the buyer to verify any and all info listed above in the description! This vehicle is also for sale locally. You are welcome to arrange a viewing of this vehicle. Again, this is a classic vehicle that has been driven and enjoyed. It’s not perfect or a museum piece so there may be minor imperfections in the body, brite work and glass. Anything to note is listed above.
Terms: Contact must be made by the buyer within 48 hours and a non-refundable $500 Paypal deposit is due within 48 hours of end of auction close, balance due within 7 days of auction close as cash or bank wire only. Due to space limitations and other upcoming auctions, buyer MUST take possession within 7 days of auction close unless other arrangements are agreed upon. I can store this vehicle for $125 a month (in advance) if you need time to make affordable shipping arrangements. Paid storage is in a dry, heated, secure indoor location. I do not finance. No trade or barter.
I am not responsible for any fees or taxes associated with registration, license plates or any out-of-pocket costs. Nor am I responsible for emissions compliance. Buyer is responsible for all state, county, city taxes & fees as well as title, registration, license plates and emissions compliance in the State/County that the vehicle will be registered. No warranty, sold as is.
Shipping is the Buyer’s responsibility. I will not ship but will work with your shipping company. A list of contact information for some of the shipping companies previous Buyers have used can be provided upon request for your quotation and shipping needs. Pick-up arrangements (by the Buyer or the shipping company) must be coordinated in advance to insure my availability since I am often in and out on business. Local delivery may be possible within 200 miles of zip code 44056 for an extra charge. Buyer is responsible for all shipping and related arrangements and payments. Vehicle must be paid in full before it leaves my premises.
Insurance: I highly recommend that the buyer put insurance on the vehicle upon purchase as I am not responsible for any damage incurred after leaving my premises.
Good luck and happy bidding!
