1971 Plymouth Scamp Valiant

The body on this Scamp is in great condition, and it was running when it was parked 10 years ago. My Dad bought this car for my sister to drive to high school in the mid-seventies and kept the Scamp as a hobby car. Dad had the car repainted and it presently shows no rust at all. There is one tiny crack in the finish above left rear wheel well. About the only other defect is a glued repair to the plastic grill. The vinyl roof is in excellent condition, and the chrome is all bright and unblemished. Dad always kept the car in a shed, so the exterior has remained good.

So the body is great, but the engine has never had anything done to it. You can see from the photos that everything under the hood is original. My Dad was a good farm mechanic, and he was good about changing the oil and filters, but he didn't spend any time tinkering or customizing the engine. It looks to me like he has removed the air conditioning compressor, and I notice the windshield washer reservoir is gone. The cooling system is full antifreeze. The odometer reads 06203.

The interior of the car is in excellent condition, except for the driver's side of the front seat. In the photos you can see that area has many splits in the upholstery. The back seat is completely intact and looks little used. The dashboard is clean and not cracked.

The car presently has no battery, and I'm no mechanic, so I'm not going to attempt to start the engine. Also, the tires are completely worn out and don't hold air very well. The buyer is going to have to transport the car from here on a trailer. I'm selling this old Scamp as a fixer-upper, as is. Of course I have the title to the car. I will accept $300 as a down payment by paypal and the balance in cash or cashier's check after after the buyer has examined the car.
