Description:

1968 Plymouth Fury VIP

You are bidding on a 1968 Plymouth Fury VIP 4 door hardtop that still has original paint except for the left front fender, the right side doors, lower rear quarters, left dog leg areaand the trunk lid. I have a replacement molding for the left front fender that is missing in the photos. The car is sold in "As Is" condition with a Connecticut bill of sale and a clear Virginia title. Connecticut does not issue titles for cars this old.

The car has a 383-2bbl engine, a rebuilt transmission at 156,091 miles (rebuilt by well known transmission rebuilder Dave Mann), has power steering, manual drum brakes and working air conditioning that has a new, NOS blower motor. The A/C is still R-12 and usually needs toping off each season. This car can be driven home even if you live across the country.

Currently, the car has a working factory AM/FM radio in it. If you use the Buy It Now Option, the radio stays with the car otherwise the car will come with a working AM radio unless we negotiate something. The car has a working aftermarket cruise control system. If you buy the car and don't want the cruise control, I will remove it and take $100.00 off the purchase price.

I have additional photos that I can share and I would be happy to send you a photo of anything that you want. An inspection and/or test drive is encouraged. This car runs great. My goal is to honestly describe the car and answer all questions to the best of my ability. I will not disclose the reserve but will say that it is lower than the buy it now price.

I have a factory 50/50 split bench seat with individual armrests that is a core that the new owner is welcome to have at no additional cost if they want. It is missingthe optional headrests. I also have a power seat track assembly for the car that can be purchased at an additional cost as can some other spare parts that I have for the car.

This is a Virginia car that has been garaged since I purchased the car in 2003 with 155,992 miles. The car currently has 159,300 miles. It is one of seven hobby cars that I own and one of five 1968 Plymouth Furys that I own. As theodometer reading shows, I have only put3,300 miles on the car in 14 years. It is time for someone else to own and enjoy this car as I have too many projects.

Being a Virginia car, while the car has some rust issues, it has solid floors, frame rails and stub frame and is really clean underneath for it's age. The lower quarter panels need some body work as do the dog leg areas - the area at the end of the rocker panel in front of the rear wheels. The trunk floor has some typicalsurface rust but no holes. The trunk floor extensions are solid except for one small hole in the left trunk floor extension. A spare left rear door lower molding comes with the car. The lower body side moldings on the left rear door and quarter panel are partially held on with double sided automotive trip tape. I have some clips that will go with the car to better secure these moldings. The body has some scratches, some stains in the paint, faded paint, a few minor dings and chips, a gouge in the left front fender and there is a scratch in the roof paint. I have tried to take illustrate the problem areas with my photos.

A previous owner had the rear seat recovered in an incorrect pattern with an incorrect velour material. Bothe ends of the drivers side seat bottom have come apart as have both upper corners of the driver's seat back. The dash pad has a small chip and a crack. Both of these areas could likely be repaired.

When the car sits for the winter, it leaks some power steering fluid and a little coolant. I have not been able to find the source of these leaks.

Local delivery is possible. Shipping is the buyers responsibility.

Added 5/15/17: The right rear window needs some work as I believe that it has at least become partially disconnected from the window regulator. Also, it looks like the rear window may leak a bit into the trunk.
