1953 Packard Caribbean Convertible

1953 PACKARD CONVERTIBLE.As pictured, hard to find 1953 Packard Convertible. Clear Arizona title. Straight 8 with a 3 speed transmission with overdrive. This beauty will run, drive and stop very well. Glass is good. Tires are great, all hold air. Interior is very nice as shown. Undercarriage is excellent. Exhaust sounds great. Just a great car at a great price you can finish and have great equity. I've owned the car for about 3 years, bought it hoping to finish it off, but alas I haven't dedicated the time to it like it deserves, and I need the shop space so I'm offering it for sale. Please review the photos (thousand words) and the video of the car running. Ask questions. The last time I drove it, the top separated from the front tacking strip. Looked like it was the original strip. I have replaced the strip but the old staples need to be removed from the top and then reattached to the new strip. Overall the top is fair, new tops are available for about $600 I believe. The rear window is a zip in and the zipper has come partially undone, the window itself is still glued in place. The prior owner stated he rebuilt the engine completely and added a 4bbl carburetor from another Packard. I have no receipts for any of this work. I noticed some throw out bearing noise but it hasn't stopped me from driving it. Prior owner also stated he went through the entire underside of the car and you can see by the photos it's excellent and solid. He also did the brakes and they are excellent for a 50's car. The electric overdrive is not connected but I cannot recall why he did that. The radio does work. The car has a power top, but as I pulled it out of the shop it did not work. The prior owner had the system rebuilt. I do not hear any sound with I hit the switch so hopefully it's just electrical. The prior owner also added an electric fuel pump just to make starting it easier, he would turn it on for a few seconds when cold, turn it off and then start the car. The fuel pump no longer works, when it's been sitting a while I just give it a squirt of starting fluid so I don't have to wear down the battery. I believe most all gauges and lights work.As you can see it's had some light body work and is due for a repaint. Overall, the body is nice and straight. Doors open and close well. Trunk is solid. This car has a clear Arizona title and was previously titled in California. I purchase the car from an 85 year old who loved this car. It needs to be finished and deserves more time than I can currently give it. I am a licensed dealer so you will need to sign dealer paperwork, which will be done through the mail if you're not local.
