1967 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 110 Coupe *Montana Survivor* "They're only original once"
This car was sold new in Anaconda, MT by Dee Motor Company, the local Chevrolet dealer. Founded during Anaconda’s copper-smelting heyday, Dee Motor Co. was once one of 13 car dealerships; it is the only one of them remaining in business today. The seller I bought it from claimed to have rescued it from an estate sale of the elderly couple who bought it new. I believed him because of the color, the automatic transmission, the body side molding, the bumper guards, the factory hubcaps, and the 92K miles on the odometer.
I bought this car in Helena, Montana in September of 2022, and drove it 600 miles home to Idaho. I have invested over $6K since then, including a complete brand new front suspension, transmission seals/service, carbs rebuilt, four wheel alignment, heater (it works!) system restored, and new engine gaskets/seals. The brakes are great and the car drives well, especially for being 56+ years old. It is not a show winner, but is a very nice driver that draws lots of attention and compliments.
The body is in good condition, with minimal blemishes. The windshield cowling had paint/repair years ago; I took a close up of the area where the paint is cracking. The chrome is shiny and not pitted.
The 14 X 6 chrome SS wheels are mounted on Grand Am radials with at least 50% tread remaining. The original Corvair Monza wheels and hubcaps are mounted on almost new (+/- 600 miles) 13" radials, and are included in the sale. I added the aftermarket center console; it fits snugly between the bucket seats and isn't screwed down. I also installed seat extension brackets for the driver's seat for extra legroom. Everything electrical works as it should except for the original AM radio.
