MOPAR powered 1965 CORVAIR MONZA
1965 Other Makes MOPAR POWERED
This custom, Mopar powered, 1965 Chevrolet Corvair Monza was professionally built in North Carolina. From the records that I have, I believe a Mr. Daniel Turcotte may have built it, or had it built. He sold it to a Mr. Phillip Tidwell in May of 2016. Both are from North Carolina. The car has a North Carolina assigned VIN, NCS92451. Mr. Andrus Vasquez of Miami acquired the car from Tidwell, and sold the car to me, as he had recent back surgery, and was unable to drive it. It has a clear Colorado title in my name.
The Corvair body was recently (July 2019) completely sanded and prepped, all minor body blemishes repaired and has been painted 2019 Corvette “Racing Yellowâ€. The chrome is in very good condition all around. The frame was custom built for the car according to the person I purchased it from. It has leaf springs in the rear with air shocks, and Mopar K- frame front suspension. The tires are virtually new with the front being 195/75 R14, and rear P275/60 R15, and the wheels are alloy Centerline rims. It rides and steers fine. It has front manual disc brakes, and manual steering. It has a Ford 9-inch posi rear end. The engine is a Mopar 340 CID, with an Edelbrock carburetor with an aluminum intake manifold, and high-performance distributor. The radiator is aluminum with electric fan, and runs at 180 -195 degrees even on hot, 90-degree days in Colorado. The transmission is a Mopar 727 with manual valve body, which is like an automatic, but requires manual shifting. I had the shift linkage adjusted, and a minor leak at the fill tube repaired. It has a 17-gallon fuel cell in the rear. The “stick†in the pictures of the fuel cell is “the fuel gaugeâ€. The “white nozzle†near the top of the fuel cell is the nozzle for the air shocks. A Mustang fuel tank could be installed in place of the fuel cell with the filler next to the rear fold down license plate. The interior is in very good condition with a new dash pad and after-market front seats. The back support of the original rear seat is in place, but there is no rear seat. It folds down to create a “rear shelfâ€. In addition to new paint and dash pad, the windshield is new, as is the windows tint, and windshield decal. The speedometer is a GPS, heads up display (HUD), and the RPMs are indicated on the large display mounted on the steering wheel column. After market oil pressure, alternator and water pressure gauges all work correctly as does the radio. The turn signal and wipers do not work. The headlights, high/low beams work, as does the taillights. The windows roll up and down correctly. Even though many of the pictures are from last year, they are EXACTLY how the car appears. The car is being sold, because it, along with several others, is stored in one of my smaller airplane hangars which I have decided to sell, and I have no options for additional storage.
