Started in England in 1956 and ending in 1960 Berkeley Cars Ltd built fiberglass bodied sports cars with motorcycle derivative engines. This Berkeley model SE492 Sports Twosome is one of only 666 manufactured between 1959 and 1960. A superior model to the original SE328, it is fitted with a larger 30bhp Excelsior 3 cylinder 492cc engine and triple carburators.Paired with a 4 speed gearbox this model has a top speed of 80 mph.
This left hand drive rolling car is #508, and comes with it's original matching numbers engine # 382. Engine is in very good condition, uninstalled, this project will need some attention to complete. Included in the sale is everything shown in pictures. The body shows no obvious cracks or signs of damage, and the gauges are intact. The transmission shifter is mounted in the floor.
This car was bought as a project and stored for many years, however loss of warehouse forces sale. An active Berkeley Enthusiasts Club has readily available tech information and parts for sale among other sources.
