ULTIMATE AMERICN STATION WAGON GORGEOUS OCEAN TURQUOISE WOODY 1968 VISTA CRUISER
1968 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser
True barn find...was in a dry garage for twenty years until I bought it two years ago.It ran from the moment I got it.Just a lucky and charmed car.Since I have owned it, here is the work that I had done:New Ocean Turquoise and GM white enamel mixed to the original formulasNew 3M Din-noc wood panels professionally installedBatteryTiresCarpetsSeats reupholsteredHeadliner redone as originalNew exhaustRadiator and heater core flushMaster cylinder and brakesAll fluids and tune uoThere are a lot of other small things I am not remembering, but no expense or attention was spared.
It starts, runs, and drives really, really well,All lights, signals, and controls work.AC blows cold and has the original R12 in irHeat blows hotLighter worksTailgate electric window worksOriginal AM radio works!Has original manuals with protectoplate and suchGlovebox and underhood light workRear cargo light worksFront dome light has stopped working
Car is fantastic to drive.Fast, smooth and straight.Rocket 350 with two barrel is QUITE fast, no problem keeping up with modern traffic.I had it out to 100 mph anc there is more to go, but that's not how I drive, just wanted to see what it could do.Handles and brakes just fine. It's not a small car but it's certainly not a boat. It's on the intermediate Cutlass platform, not a giant whale. much more agile and easy to get around and park. There is a ton of room inside.Four sunvisors! All the seat belts.Original jack and tools.Storage compartment(spare is in there now but needs to be properly stowed in it's compartment on the side instead with the jack and tools. There is no rust I can see anywhere, even underneath. Look at the door jams and underside shots. There spare is an original bias ply tire, when I got the car it had all four bias ply original tires on it holding air but they were not really safe(or fun!) to drive on and new modern whitewalls were installed and balanced and aligned, they have very few miles on them.Car could be concours level with a little detailing and effort, certainly it will win at local shows.
I am driving it regularly and VERY much enjoying it, but winter is coming and storage is an issue and I need to sell off a few toys so they don't sit outside.
If it does not sell here it will go to Mecum and will go for more.
You can certainly drive this car home (on your own plates,. sorry, not mine!) and I would not hesitate to take this 54 year old car across country.Car is insured and registered in New York under my name and is stored at my country place in 07417 New Jersey, about 45 minutes from the George Washington Bridge.
Feel free to contact me with any questions.
Before you bid:Note I have perfect feedback and take this seriously, and with pride. It's not the first of my cars I have sold, and I have learned a few things...You are bidding to buy a car, not the right to come look at it.$500 non refundable deposit is due immediately.Balance is due within 72 hours via WIRE TRANSFER only. Not paypal, cash, or any other form.I can store the car for ten days after that, or other arrangements can be made to store it elsewhere, just don't want it sitting here if the weather starts going bad.I can work with your shipper, .I have dealt with them before.
That's about it. Enjoy!
