Description:

1971 Oldsmobile 442 Coupe

Beautiful, rust-free, tastefully upgraded, genuine 344 VIN 1971 Oldsmobile 442 muscle car with a built 455 and Turbo 400. It has been built in the style of a classic street machine and has been driven less than 500 miles since being mechanically and cosmetically redone. It had near-pristine original sheetmetal to start withas it's been in the Southwest its entire life. My neighbor has owned it for almost 20 years and had it built to a high standard. In that time he's invested well over $50K. I can't even imagine what it would cost to duplicate something like this in 2022. However, his interests have shifted and he'sdecided it's time to part with it.I'm the Ebay go-to guy for my family and friends and he has asked me to sell it for him.
Also, I have more videos available but eBayonly lets me upload one. Please ask for them if you are interested.

Again, everything above was done less than 500 miles ago.
The running gear is awesome. It starts right up and quickly settles into a deep, lopey idle. The engine is very smooth and tractable with no hesitation. The ratchet shifter takes a little (very little) getting used to and becomes second nature quickly. Overall, it's an extremely quick carwhenyou want it to be and very civilized when you want it to be. It steers and drives tightly without any issues. When you apply the 4 wheel disc brakes it stops quickly but with a bit of the numbness associated with a vacuum boosted system. It's very clear the car was professionally built to a high standard.
The exterior is in very good to excellent condition. In fact, I have receipts from 2007 - 2012 totaling almost $13.5k in interior and exterior restoration (imagine how much that would cost in 2022 dollars). The flaws are minor and consist primarily of some paint chips on the drivers side. And the body has been rust-free its entire life other than one small area on each quarter panel which has been repaired to a very high standard.I'd encourage you to ask for my additional pictures which show everything in detail.
The interior is in very good to excellent condition as well.A large amount of money was spent on NOS and repro pieces to return it to almost new condition (receipts included). Flaws are limited to a carpet that doesn't fit properly up front and a rear package shelf cover that doesn't lay perfectly flat(minor, easy stuff). From a mechanical perspective, everything inside works except the fuel gauge and clock. TheHVAC system runson all settings except high. Even the AC works but it needs vents hooked up. All weather stripping is new in the trunk, doors, and door frames (it fits tight so I roll the windows down about an inch when I close the doors and then roll them back up). And it has no radio (which I think is a good thing).
This is a classic street machine which can easily be driven regularly (it's remarkably civilized considering the power output). It starts, idles, shifts, accelerates, turns, brakes and stops very well. It's perfect in many ways and could just use the few little things listed above. Or just enjoy it as it is. Plus, it's upgrades are all very tasteful and contribute to a super-enjoyable driving experience. Vintage muscle cars continue to appreciate in value. My hope is it ends up with someone who will preserve and enjoy it.
