If you've been looking for a 442,don't waste your money on a recreation, clone, tribute, or whatever fancy word they put on a rebadged Cutlass. This is a pretty rare find, with only 1300 built, how many original cars still exist?
I purchased this 442 from the Estate of the original owner. They purchased the car new in Washington State where they resided from 1971-2000...retiring to Michigan in the fall of that year. The 442 has been stored in a climate controlled garage since. I bought the car because it wasunbelievably original and solid.
A very original and unique find showing only 77,000 miles on the clock, which Ican't prove, but I've owned many of these cars, and I'd. venture to say it is original. Most of the original inspection markings are in place, heck...it had the original plug wires (1Q71) on it when I got it.

Everything works on the car, from the clock to the reverse lights! The A/C was working, but we purged the R-12 freon when replacing the A/C compressor. Idon't have any more are. R-12, but it would surely work.
Car is rock solid, runs and drives great!Perfect floors, trunk...quarters, ect. excellent door shell to door skin definition! Perfect trunk, rockers, ect.
Valve job done, nylon timing gear replaced with steel, basically every gasket has been replaced, including the front pump/rear main...its a tight little car. Its not been used much in the past few years...driven half a dozen times a year and stored.
Interior is all original and shows great! Convertible top has a glass rear window and is in excellent shape. Even the carpet!
This is a car you can drive to work all Summer long and take a second place trophy home with.
Remember most of these cars were bench seat column shift cars with no A/C.
This is a very rare "stripe delete" car...and some 20 years later the original owner decides to put his "own" pinstripe on the car.
It's nice to find a original example that has been cared for and is "turn key"....when was the last time you seen a "real" original 70-71 442 for under 40K...it's been a long time. This car has been shown at the Olds homecoming in Lansing, MI several times.
Look at my feedback, I do not sell junk and just sold a very similar condition U code 72 Convertible for 30K plus...and remember...thats a 72...they are worth less. I know these cars very well and consider myself to be a very informed collector.
