If you're kind of looking for a Chevelle or GTO but not finding any within your budget, perhaps you should start thinking differently. Take this 1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass, for example. The same tidy A-body footprint, a uniquely aggressive Oldsmobile look, and a fantastic combination of power and luxury that the junior brands can't quite match. All for a price that is half of what people will predict you paid.
The light metallic blue paint gives this big Olds a mature feeling that is also fresh thanks to the luster provided by a modern clearcoat. The chrome and stainless are quite nice and really pop against the blue paint. But there's also a sinister side. Iconic Cragar SS wheels, tinted windows, and the square-jaw toughness of the design allow this classic coupe to fit in with the muscle car crowd. Oldsmobile manufactured their own V8 engines during this era, and they were quite different than the Chevy version. These golden blocks are beefy motors that have proven to be virtually indestructible out in the real world. This one goes one step further with the addition of an aluminum radiator to keep it cool under pressure. It looks great in the engine bay (especially with the shiny air cleaner and alternator) and has a nice rumble from the dual exhaust. But even with all the added attitude, this Olds doesn't lose its premium driving feeling. With features like power steering and two-speed automatic transmission, there's an easy drive behind the aggressive appearance.
