1970 MG MGB roadster v8 project

Price: - Item location: Omaha, Nebraska, United States
Description:

1970 MG MGB

1970 MGB roadster - note its the only year with the bumperettes in the rear. Also the last year of the aluminum hood, which I do have and its nice and painted to match.
I started converting this to a Rover V8, and have not finished. Its kind of at the point of no return, in that, you could put the original 4 cylinder back in. Included is the original engine and transmission if you want it - it ran. The firewall needs the correct pieces welded in for clearing the V8 (I have, one is tacked in place) or I have the original pieces if you want to make it like it was.
Right now, there is a 1993 Land Rover 3.9L v8 in it and a Borg Warner T-5 5 speed. (Camaro V8, needs gone through) - It is a bare block with the heads sitting on it as a mock up. Included is a D&D Fabrication Bellhousing for this, as well as trans crossmember and engine mounts from them. The front suspension/K frame section is from a later (1974-1980) MGB, gives and extra clearance for this conversion. as well as the rack and steering column. I have the originals.
Floor pans are new. Car has been painted, has a few scratches from the shop and the engine bay still needs painting when its done. I have new carpet, good headrests, a decent grille, and many other parts that go with.
Has new windshield. Kind of neat - these earlier cars had 3 wipers. I have painted front valance and chrome bumper. The dash is redone with new dashpad and nice, quite a project in itself. The windshield is new which is another thing that was quite a project but turned out nice.
The engine that is in the car (the 3.9) is all disassembled, has no issues and all the parts are in bins.
Also with this sale is a complete 1980 Rover SD1 3.5L engine and transmission. (missing distruibutor though.) I will keep this and take $500 off if you want. This is a common and desirable way to go for the conversion also, and difficult to find. Also have some other items included that work for the conversion like a 62 buick timing cover and distributor, and a 90's buick oil filter adapter that can be used to rotate the oil filter so it clears. And some 98 land rover black valve covers,
Some background on these engines, and you can read more on the internet if you want... This is a common swap for these cars - MG did this themselves in 74 or so onwards. What it is, is an small aluminum V8 engine that GM developed in the 60's and put in some 62-64 Buicks and Olds. (215 cu in aluminum v8) They abandoned the project as a company and sold everything to Rover in England. They used it in their cars as a 3500 cc engine (same as 3.5L). They continued to use it in Land Rover Discovery's as 3.9L, 4.0L, and 4.6L as time went on, they might still be using it.
Included are 2 extensive books on the subject as well as some other MGB books.
Has the wire wheels with knockoffs, but I also have the hubs for 4 lug wheels.
Will be a blast when finished.
