Description:

1979 MG MGB Convertible

Up for auction is my 1979 MGB. The car sports the highly sought after factory overdrive transmission. Low mileage car with only 57,017 miles showing on the odometer. Massive amount of money has been spent on her so please read the auction in its entirety. This is a reluctant sale as I planned on keeping her forever but issues have come up that force me to sell her. I will make every effort to detail everything about the car so all interested will be fully informed prior to bidding. This is you chance to get a straight forward MGB well below the current market value. Add up all the work done to her and it greatly exceeds my asking price. Make no mistake she is selling to the highest bidder. Overdrive: Yes this car sports the sought after overdrive transmission. Works great and really makes all the difference in highway driving. The car runs great. Starts right up with no issues or noises at this time. Tight engine and I see no fluid leaks / drips under the car at this time. Engine holds good oil pressure when warm at idle. The car was recently serviced along with the carburetors being rebuilt, new air filters, fan relay switch replaced, new thermostat, new radiator cap, new exhaust / muffler, new rear end bearings, new U-joints, new choke cable, new hood release cable, new tires and new engine bay seal installed. Transmission shift up / down and through all the gears with no issues. At this time I know of no mechanical needs for the car. I would have no issues driving her on long distance trips. Exterior:The car shows well in the photos and presents herself well in person. Paint is of a nice driver quality. Very Nice driver quality car. Paint is about 18 months old. Has New side body chrome strips, new chrome side mirrors, new antenna, new chrome wiper blades, new exterior lens covers, new chrome lug nuts, new wheel center caps and MG logos, new gas cap, new trunk MG badge, new headlights, new chrome headlight trim rings, new exterior window seals, new chrome hood fresh air intake grill. Also this spring the front windshield and frame / body seals where replaced ( this was not cheap I can assure you ). Car also sports the rare chrome "Barrel / Bow" style chrome luggage rack which gives her that period look that everyone wants / likes. HUGE $$ Spent On Her to get her to look this good. Car sits nicely on the ground with no visable sign of the dreaded left side leaning issue. Nice straight body. No rust or rust repairs that I can find. Again, new soft top. Electrical's: This area is in very good condition. The front / rear running lights work, front / rear turn signals work, front / rear side markers work, headlights work, brake lights work, back up lights work, wipers work, blower fan works, horns work, hazard switch works, licence plate lights work, backup lights work, courtesy / map light works and the stereo works. Stereo is a new a Kenwood with new speakers as well ( Sounds Great ). Gauges: All gauges are correct "Smith" brand and are in working order. Heck even the original clock still works!!
Interior: Very, very nice condition. Following items have been replaced: New seats, new door panels, new window winders, new door seals, new door threshold, new shift boot, new seat belts, new carpet kit installed, new steering wheel, new floor mats, new sun visors and some other small items. Very nicely presented car. Again, new stereo and speakers. Soft Top: Soft top is like NEW and was professionally installed and fitted. Has the zip out rear window. All new seals and the top frame and header bar where completely restored to back to like new condition. Trunk: The trunk is solid with spare tire, original tools and stowage bag. Has trunk carpet kit and new trunk seal. Underbody: The underbody is in very, very good condition as seen in the photo. Don't see many this solid out there. In Closing: The above description is my observations / opinions and they very from person to person so ask all questions prior to bidding. If I have missed anything in the cars description it was not my intention so please ask for as much detail as you need to make an informed decision on the car prior to bidding. Don't want the winning bidder saying afterwards well you missed this or that. Be a responsible bidder and ask all questions prior to bidding. If I missed anything it was not my intention. Not an expert and trying to describe her as fair and accurate as possible. I'm not an expert and my opinion of the car may vary from yours so please look at the photos closely and if you need more information or any extra photos please ask prior to bidding. I know how hard it is to purchase a car online so please ask any and all questions you have prior to bidding or if you can come see and drive the car for yourself ( I really encourage you to do so ) as I want the winning bidder to be satisfied with the car when it arrives. She's a well presented / nice daily driver quality car so you should expect a 40 year old well taken care of car when she arrives at your home. Due to the cars age and having no way to warranty the car I'm selling her as in "as is" condition and mileage exempt. A $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours of auctions end. No exceptions on sending the required $500 deposit.
