I purchased the Midget from the friend of the long time ownerwho was a true British car enthusiast who was from England. Unfortunately his friend had passed away before the restoration was completed. Based on the receipts, it appears that it has been a very long term amateur restoration that started some time in the '80's. Many new parts were purchased for the project including complete new interior and new convertible top and windshield.

Mechanically: When I purchased the MG it had not been started in several years. I discovered that the fuel pump was not working. I removed the carbs and brought them to an MG expert to take apart the carbs and clean them. I installed a replacement electric fuel pump and charged up the battery. With very little effort the 1098cc engine fired right up. A compression test was performed and it showed a very impressive 180-190 psi per cylinder. The choke cable is binding a bit, so I needed to manually pull the chokes on the carbs when I fired it up. Due to the winter weather, I have not been able to road test the MG. The brakes are functioning as well as the clutch. Records show receipts for new brake rotors and brake hoses. Also, a receipt from White Post Restoration for a brake MC rebuild is included. As shown in the pictures, the engine compartment is very tidy. The engine is extremely clean and not covered in oil. It is still a positive ground system.

Body: The body is in solid condition and has an "amateur" body restoration. The body does not show any rust bubbles or rust holes. Although the paint looks nice in the pictures, it is a poor paint job. It appears that the plan was to re-do the paint job. The long time owner took pride in doing everything himself. Being that he was from England, he was used to tackling any job on his little British sports car. Unfortunately, his painting skills were far from good. The body work itself looks good, and as shown in the pictures, the door gaps look fine. The bumpers and grill are in good original condition. A new windshield was installed, however I discovered that there was not a body to windshield gasket installed. The floors were repaired with metal patch sections that were not done in an ideal fashion. It all appears solid, but was not done correctly. The body itself is very solid as shown in the close up pictures of the rocker panels as well as the other typical rust areas.

The interioris completely new. This includes new carpet and restored seats. The dashboard was also recovered as well as all of the cockpit trim pieces. New door panels were also installed. All of this work was done at a professional interior shop.

The convertible top is brand new, and was recently installed for the first time. The original side curtains have been restored with new plexiglass windows. Pictures are included of the side curtains.

I can confirm that the wipers and heater motor work. Lights are working as well. Blinkers do not work. The fuel pump that was installed is for a negative ground car, so I wired it directly to the battery with a switch under the dash to turn it on. I did not get a chance to buy the proper positive ground fuel pump.

The MG is being sold in "as is" condition with no warranty expressed or implied. I cannot be held responsible for any errors or inaccuracies that may have been inadvertently been provided.

ONCE AGAIN....A NO RESERVE AUCTION!
