Vehicle Details

1951 Mercury Monterey 4 door sedan.  This is a car with great bones and a better looking body than most projects.  I purchased this car from Minnesota and had it all torn apart when my Pap died of cancer during the restoration project.  So it was given to a classic shop with a budget that was spent and now it is to the point of my wife not allowing me anymore financial support of restoring it.  The car is one staged painted in black.  It has four newer tires on it and white wall inserts still in the package to go with them as well as stainless steel lug nuts in the box too. The original hubs are with the car as well.  This car has had a disc brake kit put on the front and the radiator done over at the local welding shop to make sure there aren't any leaks.  The front windshield is replaced and the side windows are all intact and move freely up and down.  While the front clip was removed the motor which is a 51 flathead 8 was sent out for machining of the cylinders and cleaning inside and out.  The motor was painted aqua marine blue.  There Offenhauser heads put on the motor as well.  Basically this is an engine rebuild.  This motor is a 8BA motor and it is the 239.  The choke cable needs put on which is provided and it needs an air cleaner put on top of the motor. The radiator hose going to the motor leaks around the clamp just from it being loose.  I can't get in there to tighten it.  I have yet to find oil leaking or any other fluids. There was a new started put on the vehicle as well as a battery.  The car sat for days outside the one garage and didn't even hesitate to start up. The carb was done over and cleaned before being placed on the motor.  The car is a 3 speed and pops out of 1st gear other than that the other gears work good.  There is also play in the steering of the car but very driveable for short distance for movement on a property. I took time to collect the DeSoto grille teeth and had the front cleaned up and painted with the bumper and teeth being painted as brand new.  There is minimal rust on this car.  The hood shuts nice and straight just as it should. The interior was done almost 12 years ago and the only reason there isn't a door panel on the passenger side is because the body shop left the window down a crack just as they did on the driver side and warped the panel.  Other than that the car doesn't take on rain. The wiring on the car is all original so only one tail light works and  the headlights work as well.  There are no turn signals in place except in the rear.  I also believe the brakes lights work.  The dash lights up but other than that none of the gauges work to spec I believe the mph do work.  Not sure on that though.  There is also a Dakota digital dash provided in the trunk but I don't have directions with it or any clue if you need to buy other adjuncts to go with the car accessory. The car does sit in park but my driveway is on a slant so for precautions I have the wheels chocked.  The doors open without hesitation and the suicide door work great and look really cool.  The trunk is solid and I had the lining of it rhino sprayed for preserving of the integrity.  The entire car was cleaned out from the seats to the carpet to make sure nothing was living in it by chance while at the body shop.  All the chrome comes with the car and it is very pitted, but definitely able to be refinished.  All of those materials are in the trunk as well.  I'm even sending a new pair of hot rod bullet mirrors with the car and the material to finish the passenger door panel with all the hardware everything will be labeled. The exhaust is hanging under the vehicle.  There will be a brand new dual exhaust and muffler provided inside the car upon transportation.  I will also provide new headers if they are needed to put the exhaust on.  Nothing wrong with the ones on it.  The car is originally set up for a single exhaust, I was shooting towards a double outlet.  The frame is solid and intact.  I would say with about another 1500 dollars this will be a fun driver. Please look at the pictures thoroughly...this is not a show piece it is an original classic and can be a great driver. My location is 8 miles off of I80 and easy on easy off a major highway.  The car will easily be driven onto a trailer for transport.  This is an awesome start to a great car.  Ask if there are any questions.  I will not ship over seas.  US 48 only.  I will assist in being available for helping a transport unit locating the place. Thanks for your time.  I do have a lot of pics, but I'm restricted to so many on this site.  I do have the title in hand.  All payments must be in full and cleared before vehicle leaves my property. Any questions text 570-295-2545. I'm not sure what the &nbsp is I have tried to erase it on the revising but can't...it doesn't belong in my description, sorry!
