1969 Mercury Cougar - "R" Code body

1969 Mercury Cougar XR7

One of the prior owners tried to convert the car to an "Eliminator Clone" due to it having a 428 CJ motor. I have collected parts to put the car period correct, so please no "flippers" for investment, the car is not matching numbers.
I drove the car regularlythrough the early 90's, when I was told that it did not pass visual, so I non-opped the car in lieu of having to put all the CJ smog equipment back on the car. It is long since out of this requirement. This is a great car for it's uniqueness and to be driven. You could easily put in a FE to suit of drive it with the engine that is in it. FYI, the Ram Air control valve that is on the car is NOS.
The transmission is period correct, but not date code. Vinyl top is in excellent condition, but some said it is not authentic. It was replaced in the late 1980's when Cougar parts were not as available as reproduction parts are now.
